True Move Sim Received In Uk............

......................Can I activate it here ??

I ordered off Ebay as pretty cheap at the equivalent of 180 Baht all in delivered to UK if for no other reason that I know the number in advance.

Can I activate here and now in Uk or should I wait until arrival at Bangkok airport in January/February. Whilst the package is entirely in Thai there is Sept 2013 written on the cellophane, which I assume is latest activation date......??

Should I wait or try and do here in UK now ?? Will it pick up signal even......??

Thanks in advance........

Whether you can activate or not depends on the SIM or SIM type. Some SIMs are not for roaming service as default. You'll find out about it when you try to activate, but be careful. Once you activate your SIM card, or even at the moment you are trying to activate it, the account balance quiclkly disappears unless you keep the data communication function off, because using your True SIM in UK means you are on roaming service.

I would recommend you wait until you arrive to activate the SIM. There is no reason to activate it, and the validity clock will start ticking. In fact, you could have waited until you arrived to purchase a SIM.

Agreed I could have and maybe should have.

It was cheap considering Carriage Paypal Costs Ebay Seller Fees and I'd be surprised if the seller netted more than 50 Baht.

I had the number which is what I wanted to be fair. I tried popping it in but wouldn't/couldn't pick up signal which I thought it would even without credit....??

I have a True Move sim card which I've been using in Thailand for some two years now.

I've just had to come back to the UK and tried it out of curiosity because I'm expecting a text message from a company sometime in the next month. It's not recognized here at all, I assume because I didn't set up roaming before I left Thailand.

If that is the case then it's highly unlikely you would be able to activate it in the UK anyway.

When I originally bought the sim card in Thailand it worked as soon as it was put in a phone, it didn't need activating first.
