Can Muslims,buddhist,christian,jew,atheist,ect,live Together?

I believe all peoples of different races and religions are capable of living together in peace and harmony.

The problem is that there are too many extremists and hate mongers against one group or another always trying to throw a spanner into the works and although these extremists are very much in the minority, they still inflict the most amount of damage with they’re propaganda in the media, the infiltrating of the Internet, such as Utube comments and hate sites and then the problems arise that the more publicity and media expose these groups gain, than sooner or later their hate messages begin to seep through and people start believing this trash and taking in what they say as fact.

Outstanding clip....

Should be compulsory viewing for all those with "profound" opinions. Probably applies therefore to a large chunk of TVF regulars.

I reckon from this thread that a lot of atheists find it hard to tolerate other people's religions as well.

I get on reasonably well with my neighbours and colleagues who seem to be of diverse religions.

I don't think I've actually seen any religious conflict since we threw stones at the catholics, but that was only because they went to a different school. We didn't do that after we were integrated. And it wasn't based on a doctrinaire revulsion at the heresy of popery, either

I have zero problem tolerating other people's religions. I am surrounded by (ostensibly) religious folks (Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim, Jewish and Christian) and get along with most of them well -- i cases where I don't, it has nothing to do with religious beliefs.

I tolerate religion as a whole without any difficulty whatsoever (after all I live in this world and have been surrounded by it all my life, to one degree or another). That doesn't mean I have entirely positive views of it about it -- far from it.

No chance. If you view religions as memes or complexes of memes they will compete with one another, this competition has no earthly referee as a supernatural higher authority will be cited by each to 'prove' their point. To a large extent Judaism and Christianity have been put in their boxes, by science and state eventually gaining authority. Sadly with Islam this has not happened, and is very unlikely to happen quickly as the Islamic meme has various defense mechanisms built in, such as death for apostates and a huge percentage of Islamic scripture dictating the nature of dealings with other religions. By the way it's Islamophobia awareness month and in commenting on this manipulation of the English language Pat Condell covers very nicely many of the reasons why I think coexistence is impossible on a global scale, though pockets of reason do exist, allowing me to enjoy Cow Soi for lunch.

The question posed by the OP was, CAN they coexist? Answer: Yes, they can.

Most of the answers are to the question, DO they? Answer: Generally no, except on a small scale.

I've never experienced any trouble even when spending several years in Muslim countries where there are significant Christian minorities. I reckon I've done a pretty good job of co-existing peacefully, despite the reputation of my compatriots.

Have you had any problems with failed colonials?

Not so's I've noticed, but I'm less sensitive than a lot of our fellow posters
