PATTAYA:--A self-confessed drunk driver was responsible for a three-vehicle road accident in South Pattaya early on Monday Morning which amazingly resulted in no loss-of-life or injury.

Police and rescue services were called to Pattaya Third Road just after Midnight to deal with the crash, involving a Russian Tour Bus, a White Isuzu D-Max pick-up and a 6-wheel truck belonging to a furniture company.

Police detained the truck driver, Khun Somjit aged 30, who admitted to being drunk. He was on his way to collect some furniture which was intended for a customer in Bangkok when the crash occurred. He confessed to drinking with friends earlier in the night before starting his job.

Witnesses saw the truck being driven at high speed and erratically and after clipping the Russian Tour Bus, which was making a u-turn back up the Thappraya Road

Sleeping truck driver crashes in Pattaya city

Pattaya Police were called to the Bali Hai area of the city on Monday morning, after a 6 wheel delivery lorry hit a stationary vehicle, almost cutting it in half.

The 30 year old driver is suspected of being either intoxicated or affected by other substances as he confessed to having fallen asleep at the wheel, the second such claim in the city by a truck driver in a week. In this case, the expectation that he was drunk was amplified by the condition of his friends who rode with him to make a delivery. All are thought to have spent the previous evening drinking heavily.

The truck side swiped several vehicles, street signs and lights before embedding itself in a parked pickup. Had anyone been in the pickup at the time, there is no doubt that they would have been killed

One eye witness said that the six wheeled truck drove very fast as it approached the flyover area on the main road and had dragged the truck a significant distance after the impact

With the name Somjit, I doubt he's a westerner.

Of course, I could be wrong, my wife's got tickets for a concert next week for a Thai singer whose name is Albert McIntyre. (better known as "Bird").

Sub human scum - definition of drink drivers.

Ha ha, here we go again. These types of threads always bring out the houllier than thou tv members. Amazing.

Apparently they do. You surfaced. And you think the article is funny. So you feel there is nothing wrong with drink and drive? Or do you have Aspberger's Syndrome? Or are just plain stupid? Or possibly all three alternatives.
