I'm teaching in Myanmar, but my question is relevant for this forum.

Although some ThaiVisa members may know me as a hotelier in Phuket, I also work as a teacher of adults and primary age students. Since earlier this year, I have been teaching in Myanmar at 2 international schools/colleges, where I teach IELTS and business English to adults, and ESL to a class of primary school children. My teaching has been very well received by my students and my employers.

Although I have an MSc from University College London, it is in a technical subject. My only 'educational' qualification is a 120-hour, in-house TEFL qualification that I obtained in 2002.

In order to ensure my professional development, I have signed up for a 'free' post-graduate MA course - Adult Learning & Global Change'. That online course takes 2 years to complete and will certainly support my adult teaching.

But I very much enjoy my teaching of primary age children as well, and I'm pondering how I can achieve a recognised and valued qualification in a relevant subject area in a shorter timescale than the 2 years for my MA course. My existing TEFL qualification is from an unaccredited language school.

In the short term, I am studying a number of short courses in special needs teaching of children, which include topics such as ADHD, autism and dyslexia.

But it looks that the most relevant qualification would be an accredited TEFL, CELTA or Trinity DipTESOL.

Here's my problem. I teach 7 days each week in Yangon and AFAIK, the CELTA and DipTESOL courses include a face-to-face teaching component, or require an in-class monitoring and assessment component, which is unrealistic given my location in Myanmar.

So, can anyone suggest an accredited course provider or relevant course that would provide a useful qualification to support my primary school teaching?
