This is a really interesting shot I think.

You have to look at it for a few seconds before it jumps out at you.

Interesting Flight Paths ...

Wind from the north so a usual approach.

Crazy Flight Paths

I'm sure that the Bangkok Air flight was marking time as another 'priority' jet approached.

Now, this is purely my observation but anytime a Thai Airlines flight approached ... it got priority.

Not unusual for "home ground advantage" to be given to the "national" carrier...

See it often in SIN with SQ, QF in Australia, MH in KUL etc...

Actually for a good laugh at some of the "antics" that go on at airports - tune into LiveATC.net - unfortunately BKK or any Thai port aren't available but the 3 other HUBS ;) are HKG, KUL & SIN

I don't think Heathrow shut yesterday. About 200 flights from a certain airline were delayed about two hours . One suspects that some engineering checks were done hastily. Meanwhile a PIA flight was brought into Stansted with a military escort instead of continuing to Manchester. The story seems to be that two passengers were arrested having attempted to enter the flight deck following an altercation with cabin staff.

Meanwhile this was seen landing at LHR today, so the quiz question is - what is it and how many other aircraft of that type were at LHR today?

Looks like a Qatar Dreamliner anyways.
No idea how many were at LHR though - and its far too early in the morning for me to be researching it biggrin.png

David, this is nothing below, nothing more than a little widening out and 1 hold, It can not be called Crazy.

If you want to see something really nuts, look at Brisbane in Australia, in your backyard, in the wonderful land of Oz, each morning and arvo, hour delays are normal there and well known throughout the world as a total joke now.

2 out of my last 6 flights into Briz-vegas I had to divert to YBMC due lack of fuel after blowing an hours holding near Maleny out to the North, nice clear weather and they were both International flights landing, bloody joke in my opinion, you have no idea the amount of paper work that BS causes.

To many do-good-er jerks who believe that it is wonderful.

What you have here in BKK is nothing in my opinion and I would lap that up any day over what I get when going into Oz now.

CLB,

BNE has been that way since they closed off the shorter runway - 19L if I'm not wrong - which forces all the small fry onto the main runway.

Quite often and - even more now in winter - you'll see awesome contrails showing the aircraft tracking from way out west and into BNE, keeps the tinfoil hat brigade quite active...

lubbkis,

You sure that LOT belly landing was recent? That looks awfully familiar to an incident a few years back involving LOT...

For those playing along, would appear to be a 767-300...

That LOT is an old one.

I think he is referring to yet another case of 320 (family) engine cowls not latched a few days ago in London.

Human error will not go away, beats the crap out of me why there is not a warning on those latches, becoming a common accourance now. You can't tell by just looking at them without going under as the sit flush when not latched. Not that I have ever driven one but it has been pointed out several times to me. Maybe be Airbus is to good as they are a nice tight fit when not even latched.

I don't have a beef with Airbus, just somethings with them are weriod, almost like they can't loose face, sounds like my in-laws...... w00t.gif sad.png sad.png sad.png

Hi Grant, slightly off topic but TG does go there, so Thai related, but they turn around in the early afternoon & avoid delays (& cerfews) !!!! LOL

If you Scroll down to plate 10-9 (Out of Date by the way, but the easiest legal way to discus without getting a please explain email) I think that you can download current ones, non Jepps from AirServices, maybe they charge now, I dunno, if it is safety related, they will charge a penny or 2 with a smiling middle finger raised. bah.gif

Correct shorter runway closed at night damn it.

The has not been a 19L, (left or paralleled runway), there was an old airport that is now the freight hardstand and where most of the stuff is held that is being held for customs. There is a old runway down there that is now a taxiway, but that closed ages ago. There are some FBO's down there that really rock, up there with the best American ones that thrive on challengers. They closed the 1760M cross runway 14/32 due to a piss fart incident that happens all the time in the rest of the world. Was it a Metro ?? not sure, anyway, I think there was a conflict that happened at night, Air services Australia in Brizy are out of control and closed the bloody runway. Hence, dramas all around, I think it is political as much as anything, it is not a safety concern if the ATC are up to international standards, which in my opinion they most defiantly are.

This is a few hundred meters shorter than the closed 14/32 at Brisbane and sucks up and spits out 37's all day long. coffee1.gif coffee1.gif coffee1.gif coffee1.gif coffee1.gif

Sorry CLB, I should have qualified my statement a bit better when I said they'd closed 19L...

It's been closed due to their preparations for the construction of the new runway further out past the GA area...

As for the old ITB - I thought that was Clive Palmers private area :P His well looked after MD-82s are a sight to be seen and never appear to move...

No curfews at BNE as far as I'm aware of - noise abatement yes - but nothing restrictive like SYD. Lived adjacent to the flight path for 18 months in Kangaroo Point and always enjoyed hearing the roar of Rolls Royce at 3am courtesy of Emirates from my balcony..

WOW ... some interesting stuff there.

I have no idea what you guys are talking about ... OK, maybe 10% ... biggrin.png

Carry on ... thumbsup.gif

David,

Next time you're out BNE way, take a look at the western end of the airport, down where Clive parks his birds - you'll notice how it appears to be separate from the rest of the aerodrome

That video with the LOT shot was not posted by me. I was quoting it.

I tried to post yesterday's pic of the Qatari Dreamliner landing at LHR but somehow it got embedded in my quote of the previous post.

This other pic was taken at Gatwick today. It represents an incident that is the third of it's kind. What unusual event happened at Gatwick today? Why? (there is a clue in the filename) and what were the other two similar events?

At it has 6:30min it has 2 guns firing. According to Wikipedia it was designed with only 1 gun that was never fitted anyway one the ONLY Kestrel built that this represents in the movie.

That would be as also in the Movie it is not a Kestrel (only 1 built) but a Miles Master, look at the air intake for the "radiator", not located on the nose, but under the belly, Same source on Wiki below

"though there was provision for a single 0.303 in (7.7 mm) Browning machine gun in the starboard wing outboard of the landing gear, and for a camera in the matching port side position. There is no record that this gun was fitted."

Sourcehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miles_Kestrel

If that is not it, maybe Mrs Vandaline did "more" to get those plans and performed magic with her nickers....giggle.gif

Can't watch the clip from where I am - but is this the Poirot episode where he is at an old Art-deco aerodrome?

If so - there's a modern light aircraft seen taxiing in the far distance in shot.

I remember seeing it and going Aahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh something not right here.
