Things To See Near Puh Chi Fa?

Featured Replies

I'm heading up to Puh Chi Fa this weekend to see the famous sunrise from the mountaintop.

Except the sunrise and the mountain, is there anything else worth seeing in the area?

I'm a landscape / nature photographer btw, so feel free to give me info on some beautiful locations. :)

I will be there for 2 days and I will have my own rental car.

Thanks!

Pha Tang and Phu Sang Waterfall are in opposite directions from Phu Chi Fa but on the same mountain road. I put a couple of images in the CR Image section. It is a little hazy this time of year but there are lots of places to stop for a view out over the valleys. I’m sure you will stumble upon something worth shooting while you are in the area.

Phaya Pipak is located atop Doi Yao on the opposite side of the valley with a very dramatic and steep road to the top.

Thanks for the info and photos! :)

Looks interesting. I will check it out!

This time of year it can get crowded at sunrise on Phu Chi Fa, with everyone trying to get that perfect shot that so seldom presents on the day one is there.

^ OMG!! Thats a lot of early birds! I had no idea this many people get up early just to see the sunrise. :)

Well, I'll make sure to claim my spot around 04:00 then. That should do it.

Cabbages! Lots of them.

There is another road to the top departing in the village Ban Rom Fa Thong.

This concrete road runs inside the national park forest and ends at a parking

under a cliff face. The walking distance to the top is much shorter and less

visitors use this access.

If you are lucky the Bauhinia trees will be in blossom.

Rom Fa Thong is the first village North of Ban Rom Pho Thai on road 1093.

Another great way to see the countryside and the waterfalls up in Chiang Rai province is one of the several ATV adventure companies up here.

Did I neglect to mention flashlights?goof.gif A good torch is a necessity to navigate the steep rocky path to the summit in the dark. Bring your own or rent from the locals.thumbsup.gif

So how went the adventure? Too much fog or too little and was it cold? A picture would be nice.smile.png
