Extending Visa For 30 Days In Mae Sai/cr

Featured Replies

Hi Folks

Got my self a truck that will be able to get up hill from Fang to Mae sai.so the question is

.Is there an immigration office there ,that gives you a 30 day extension?

What is the office like in comparision to CM which is becoming too much?

Is it packed out with farang and Burmese

Are there better days and times to go etc etc

also reading there was going to be an immigration office in CR

If so when and how is it?

did everyone get a motorbike for xmas in CM?.extremely noisy

chheers

Unless your landing the truck at Chiang Rai International it will be 15 days.

Mai Sai immigration will give you a 30 day extension if you have a 60 day tourist visa. Fee is 1,900 baht plus a passport photo.

Tomorrow is first Saturday of the Month. Immigrations Office may have service in front of Robinsons (at Central - Chiang Rai).

yes i wish i had read the post on friday about a saturday service in cr

Never mind just got my 3o day extension in CM

.Took 1 hour in total in and out but totally chaotic with lots of burmese and lost foreigners haha

But its a lottery and complete cattle market till every thing settles down

today they had changed the system again regarding giving out tickets for which booth you were to use, plus no copy machine there as it was closed

now the question again asked

Has anyone had experience at Mae Sae or CR regarding Thai visa ,for the moment 30 day extensions

Never having done the visa thing in CM I am unable to make a comparison, but that said, most of us are quite happy with the service we get in Mae Sai. Next time give Mae Sai a try and report back on how it compares to CM. Then again I’m not sure we want all the CM guys flocking here and making life more difficult for us.wink.png

I hear what you are saying VF about the CM crowd coming up.

I live arounf half way from both

Basically before i got the truck i had a motorcycle ride ,to the main road ,then wait for a songkow then 1 bus a day to Mae sai ,got to the border at 5.30 then a

quick in and out .Had to get a hotel overnight as only 1 bus back at 7am in the morning.

But all the above is about when i had to leave Thailand,THIS question is about getting the extension inside Thailand.

the few times i got the bus to Mae Sai ( bus station not the border)the immigration was mighty crowded with lots of people hanging nad jostling around the main window area

So do the non Burmese ,non thais get dealt with in a more efficient way or is there only one Q for everyone.

Also if the CR mobile office is only on one sat a month.

How does that work out if your expry date is say for discussion bang in the middle of the month?

Well, sometimes it just doesn’t workout. I have an appointment on Feb 8th and Saturday is the 2nd. I will be driving to Mae Sai. It is that simple.

For somethings you can go in a little early but you might lose a few days. I have found no two visits to immigration to be identical. That is just the day I have to be there and maybe I am lucky and maybe not.
