I too thought it was great image when I saw it in the UK newspapers last week !

Shot by a UK photographer who had spent many years trying to capture such an image.

all his other shots are just as awesome

I am out of the country at the moment. How is the season progressing? Earlier and other reports are that things are slow (migratory spp). Are bird numbers down?

Mousehound: Plenty of birds at least in Phuket.

Checking the premises

Can't comment about other places but where I am, there definitely is a lot less migrants this time round.

I can't believe I haven't see a single leaf warbler to date. Best bird to date is still a Black-capped KF.

^ Birdsthatfart, worth a look, great pics Gary!

Than you so much.

Crazy name for a birding site I know. When I retired I decided to make birding and travel my hobby, and the name reminds me NOT to take my hobby seriously.

A very relaxing and stress free hobby that is way underrated IMO.

I update my flickr site regularly also: http://www.flickr.com/photos/avianphotos

OK - quick guess on waders. Eurasian Curlew - the big bugger with a long beak. Wood Sandpiper, flecked wings and yellowlegs. Whimbrel - shortish downturned beak and white rump with barred tail coverts.

Can anyone help me with this bird ID please. Not the sharpest photo-sorry!

Believe it is a cuckoo-but which one?

Could be a juvenile or a well worn adult.

Photographed in a large tree in my garden at Na Ngua about 10 km north of Phetchabun Highway 21

Thanks in advance

Thanks.

Hadn't considered that one. I have shot of back of bird can't make out any green but images not great.

That's comparing with images in Robson.
