The Opening Ceremony of Bangkok Film Market

The 2006 Bangkok Film Festival has auspiciously opened the Bangkok Film Market, to help push Thai films into the international market.

The 3rd Bangkok Film Market will be opened until the 24th of February, 2006 at Siam Paragon Hall Mr. Louis Horvitz (ลิว ฮอร์วิทซ์) is the honorary president who will bring his knowledge and ability to promote the Bangkok Film Market in the Asian region. The layout of this event is to arrange business conference rooms for the people who are working in the film industry, such as film producers, directors, and distributors. This is also an opportunity for Thailand to introduce and publicize various film locations of the country.

There are currently 82 booths for domestic sellers and 120 booths for buyers from abroad. More than 450 people are participating in this event, including large agencies from Asia and Europe such as GAGA, C-2 International, Festival Films, Lighthouse Pictures, Archlight, Europacorp, Beyond Film, Dream Movie, and Fortissimo Film. As for Thai agencies, some of them include Five Star, Kantana, and CM Thai Movie.

This year’s film market has seen a larger number of participants from the movie industry, and the Tourism Authority of Thailand would like to use this opportunity to organize Thai Film Line Up, where Thai films, expected to be released this year, will be previewed.

French Legendary Actress Catherine Deneuve Attends BKKIFF 2006

While the Bangkok International Film Festival 2006 is the talk of the town at moment, a press conference on a French film entitled “Les Parapluies de Cherbourg” (เล พาราปรุย เดอ แชดบวก) was held at the Conrad Hotel on February 20th.

“Les Parapluies de Cherbourg” is a romantic story about a teenage girl named Geneviève who lives with her widow mother, who tries to impede her daughter’s love relationship as she deems that her lover is not wealthy enough. This classic French film was produced in 1964, and its dialogue is entirely sung. Meanwhile, the world-celebrated actress who starred in this motion picture, Miss Catherine Deneuve, will receive a lifetime award at this year’s Bangkok International Film Festival similar to Mr. Sombut Methinee (สมบัติ เมทะนี ), the Thai legendary actor.

Ms. Deneuve, a famous French actress, was born on October 22nd, 1943, and she is 62 years of age. Her debut was on 1956 and she has starred in at least 80 films. She has won the Cesar Award for the Best Actress category in 1981 for the movie “Le Dernier Métro” (เลอ แดรกเนีย เมโทร), while her most popular movie is “Les Parapluies de Cherbourg”.

This is her first visit to Thailand, and she has expressed her desire to visit the National Museum and the northern province of Chiang Mai. Countdown to the Golden Kinnaree Award

One of the main highlights of the Bangkok International Film Festival 2006 is the upcoming Golden Kinnaree Award. The awards will guarantee the quality of films to be presented, and it will kick off on the 24th of February, 2006.

This year, the Golden Kinnaree Award will divide the awards into five categories, namely International Competition, ASEAN Competition, New Voice, International Documentaries and Asian Short Films.

The judging committee will comprise of leading figures from the international film business. In addition, a Thai committee will take part in deciding the winners for each award category.

The award presentation ceremony will be on February 24th, and a total of 13 prizes will be given out. They include best film, best director, best actor, best actress, best ASEAN film, best ASEAN short film, best international documentary, and new voice / best new director. There will also be a lifetime achievement award, career achievement award, and the royal jasmine award for contribution to the promotion of Asian cinema, which will be for the individual who considerably helps promote Asian films. Crystal lens award for cinematographer of the year and Asian eyes award for excellence in Asian cinematographer will also be presented here.

Many Thai Old – New Films Are Being Shown at the BKKIFF 2006

The 2006 Bangkok International Film Festival has initiated the Bangkok Film Market (BFM), in an attempt to help promote the film business and publicize Thai movies to the international cinemas. Many Thai films have seen success from this festival and their popularity has increased, following the launch of the film market in last year’s event.

In this festival, more than 20 old and new Thai films will be presented. Apart from “Invisible Waves”, which is the opening movie on February 17th, other Thai films waiting to be screened during February 18th to 27th include “3 Friend”, “AHIMSA Stop to Run”, and “The Tin Mine”. They are also the contenders for the ASEAN Competition category. As for short films, 5 of them will be displayed, including “Tsu”, which is directed by Mr. Pramote Sangsorn (ปราโมทย์ แสงศร) to commemorate the tsunami tragedy, “Kiss the Machine”, “The Same Old Story as I Thought / Pillow Talk” and “Bedtime Story”. “The Stories from the North” will also be presented, and it is a nominee for the international documentary category as well.

The movies that have not been nominated in any category include “Gitarajan” and “The Seed”. These two films have been made to honor His Majesty the King. Five movies performed by Mr. Sombut Metheni will also be shown, comprising “The Blood Sun”, “The Holy Hoodlum, The hel_l of Tarutao”, “War Lord”, and “Tears of the Black Tiger”. Other interesting local motion pictures include “Dorm”, “Innocence”, “Things that Move: Fireflies”, “The King Maker”, “Oops! There’s Dad”, “The Ghost of Mae Nak”, and “Dear Dakanda”.

BKKIFF 2006 Present Short Animated Films from Germany

15 short animated films from Efa (อีฟ่า) Institute of Germany are being presented at the 2006 Bangkok International Film Festival, which is being held in Siam Paragon.

Adding life into the lifeless and creating a new world under your own rules and imagination: this is a brief definition that develops charm in animated films. This year, Germany presented a number of short animations, and each one was produced by the outstanding and accomplished artists in the international level.

The chosen German films were some of the most interesting films in Germany over the past five years, and they were presented to more than 40 countries worldwide. German animated film producers used various techniques, from classic to technological methods to produce their animated motion pictures. Each film has varieties and is full of significance. Clearly, producing animated films require a great deal of determination and devotion.

The Development of Bangkok Film Market

Following the grand opening of the Bangkok International Film Festival 2006 to the introduction of the Bangkok Film Market last Monday, the responses from the general public have been very optimistic, and many people from the film industry are participating in this event.

The atmosphere of the Bangkok Film Market on the 2nd and 3rd days was progressively more vivacious, as indicated by the number of interested participants. Following the first day of this event, buyers and sellers have a chance to talk to each other at the Thai Film Line Up Reception.

The reception allows people to negotiate and create new friendship in the film business. And here, Thai films, scheduled to be shown this year, are being displayed, and a number of buyers have started to negotiate with many film producing companies consequently.

Bangkok Film Festival came to an end yesterday.

The Bangkok Film Festival came to an end yesterday, as organizers expressed satisfaction with the event.

Governor of Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Jutamas Siriwan (จุฑามาศ ศิริวรรณ), as head organizer of this year’s Bangkok Film Festival, said that the event was a success, adding that it was bigger than the past year’s. She said that the TAT has followed the government policy on tourism by organizing 2006 Thailand Grand Invitation to welcome tourists on the occasion of His Majesty the King’s 60th anniversary of accession to the throne.

She said that the event yielded great returns in terms of public relations, as more than 1,000 Thai and foreign media came to Thailand to cover the event.

beautiful ladies.... and doesn't Tata Young look even bigger than before? How many enlargements can one woman have?

Just one boob job, right after the crazy sexy bitchy song and just before (as far as I can remember) the Dtoom Dtoom song came out where she was rolling around in the mud.

Of course, just like Sonya, according to her, it is probably some magic 'cream' or massage technique or something :-)

I was thinking along similar lines as well, young Thai women in general are usually/often quite small up top, this lot seem to be all plastic. Too much western influence perhaps? My motto is 'more than a handful is a waste' :o
