Ok, in Germany I would now probably face the toughest time of the year, Carnival!

6 Days with no regrets, lots of alcohol and girls, happy people… :o

Well, some of you will certainly say: “Hey, where’s the difference to Thailand? If you observe it from this perspective, Carnival is here every day…” :D

Hm, maybe, but nevertheless, as I was born and grown up in Duesseldorf, one of the Carnival capitols, I become homesick for the first time when I look at the German webcams…

So any ideas where to go (bars or clubs) for the next six days until Wednesday to find some salvation?

Take heart Ellork, there was a piece in the Bkk Post today regarding 'carnival' ala Germany. You might also check out Hopf Brauhaus in Pattaya, or the Soi 11 beer garden in Bkk, OR (my pick) Tawandang "German" Brewhouse in Bkk. I have NO idea what you might expect in your hometown but even tho you probably won't find a Duessledorf type carnival in Thailand, you might just have a good night out, enjoy! :o Any other reccos ppl??

I prefered Augsburg or even Muenchen...........last two places I worked in Germany, Bremen and Hamburg didn't celebrate it much at all. Basel/Basle in Switzerland/Germany/France is also a good place to celebrate. Mind you, I've got a feeling the best might just be Rio.

vermisse du mich? :D

ich vermisse dich :o

Her name was Lola

She was a showgirl

With yellow feathers in her hair

And a dress cut down to there

She would Merengue

And do the Cha-Cha

And, while she tried to be a star

Tony always tended bar

Across the crowded floor

They worked from eight to four

They were young and they had each other

Who could ask for more?

ja ja .. its my german 's carnival :D

you got to experience carnival on the rhein, the carnival in rio is based on the Cologne carnival, southern germany and switzerland and Bavaria celebrate Fassnacht, which in some towns like Basle(schweiz) goes back to the 14th century, these are the early roots of carnival, but it does not matter where it is a good time is always had by all, to see the children of rheinland on rosemonday collecting their buckets of caramels and boiled sweets is enough to bring a smile to the face of a sober australian :o nignoy

Well well, thanks folks, that makes it a little bit easier. :D I’ll give it a try and follow up the recommendations from baht&sold.

Nignoy, hey ash Wednesday is still so far away… The circus has just started… :D

Ok, I’m eager to see, whom of you I’ll meet out there drunk and in a costume… but I have to confess that the imagination is really tempting to meet BambinA in disguise… :D Rule 1: No regrets… :o

Helau to all of you and enjoy the Buetzchen…

Cheers

(ok, this is a real insider, so who knows what Buetzchen are? If the answer comes from a girl, she’ll get one!) :D

"Us Nuess helau", that's what I had to hear for a few years working unfortunatelly on the wrong side of the Rhein... I don't want to get my Buetzchen from you though :D:D

I would have missed carnival completely if I didn't figure out what day it was yesterday and I was happy to save my tie... :burp:

Well...this is a strange topic for TV though. The only thing I miss about carnival is actually the celebration of having a(nother) reason to get drunk... :D over here you need to find different ones :D:D

Alaaf,Helau and Hagau,

KY :D

One thing you have to remeber as well . Fasching officially starts at 11oclock on the 11th day of the 11th month, and runs through to Fasching Dienstag. Of course in England we celebrate with wild, gat abandon as well..............................................it's called Pancake Day.
