Looking For A Competant Doctor For A Testicular Cancer Screening

Featured Replies

Hello Everybody!

I'm looking for a competant doctor or hospital in Chiang Mai, or elsewhere in Thailand, who can perform a comprehensive screening for testicular cancer. I've looked though the forum and found quite mixed reviews on hospitals and doctors, with no mention of this particular type of screening. It may require an MRI, ultrasound, or other diagnostic procedures. I don't have insurance right now, so I'm trying to avoid some place that will order unecessary tests or try to overcharge me. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Moved to the medical forum, with a live link remaining on Chiang Mai.

My suggestion would be to go to Sriphat ASAP. Register at the counter on the 13th floor and they should be able to direct you to the appropriate doctor. 3 weeks ago I saw a urologist there cost 200 bahts. Same day had an untrasound of my bladder cost 500 bahts. In my mind these prices are about as reasonable as one can find.

The best urologists in the country are the army specialists. The army hospital Pramonkutklow in BKK has 7 specialist urologists and all the latest gear. One of the best is Dr Bandit who I see for cysts in the bladder

If you have an army hospital in GM go there for the specialists from BKK are sent wherever they are needed including incidentaly private hospitals.

Only problem with army hospitals is that they treat anyone on a first come basis and there can often be waiting thmes.

However the charges are less than half that of a private hospital.

The most important aspect of this remains clinical examination by a competent physician. These tumours tend to be very small when still at a treatable stage and an MRI etc is not sensitive enough.
