Hello people,

Thinking of staying at Atrium on New Phetburi Road, but a friend says its near Thaksin party HQ? You think they'll be any problems in that area or has protesting being limited to Government House?

If there is trouble, I could stay the Boulevard on Sukhumvit but its an extra 1500 baht a night which I don't really wanna pay.

Any help, gratefully received,

Bubbles

ps.....I like my Amari hotels, before anyone asks! :o

Yes, not quite like Sukhumvit, but it's not that far from the subway which will get you to the Skytrain in one stop. Their website says .25km to the subway. Not a bad hotel for the price.

As for the Thaksin party HQ, I think there'd have to be some major problem for that to be an issue. It's not like this building is leaning up against any others. Even across the street is pretty far as the hotel is set back and Petchaburi road is about 5 lanes wide. If you're worried about traffic should anything happen, get to the subway and get to a clearer area.

I've stayed at the Amari Atrium many times and I think that it's a very good hotel although pricey. It's not difficult to get to the Sukhumvit Road by taxi and the klong long-boat taxi stop is about 250 metres downstream from the hotel. From here, Rama I Road, Central World Plaza, Pathumwan Centre, Pantip Plaza and, going the other way, the Ramkhamhaeng area can be reached in an easy an inexpensive canal ride.

I would consider other hotels apart from the Amaris. The boulevard is also way overpriced and service very poor I've found. So many more better choices.

Agree not a bad Hotel.

I have had my relatives and friends from blighty stay there and they really enjoyed it.

Smart clean hotel with nice rooms -3-4 star, good pool and mingles bar(for the boozers)

A moto from Soi C (S-23)..not Asoke (wrong direction) will get you back in about 10 minutes.

I forgot to mention the food at the Amari Atrium.......superb, especially the buffet dinner. Also, as Rinrada says the rooms are spotless, the pool is good and "Mingles" is a good place to have a drink away from the city centre. I expect to stay at the Atrium many many more times. :o
