Reminds me of the movie Blazing Saddles with Hedley Lamarr having a newly recruited and diverse army of thugs (which Lamarr characterized as ideally consisting of "rustlers, cutthroats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperadoes, mugs, pugs, thugs, nitwits, half-wits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, con men, Indian agents, Mexican bandits, muggers, buggerers, bushwhackers, hornswagglers, horse thieves, bull dykes, train robbers, bank robbers, ass kickers, shit kickers – and Methodists). But remember, no gum chewing wink.png

I doubt the red shirts had any Methodists.

Quote #52 Buchholz:

Meanwhile, Red Shirt Leader Kwanchai criticized the January 29th Red Shirts by saying they should not have held their rally as it jeopardizes the Pheu Thai Party's candidacy in the forthcoming Bangkok Governor's race.

UNQUOTE

Now please dear red-shirts, if you feel like protesting wait till after the BKK governor elections. It's much more convenient then.

Today, in other Red Shirt/Bangkok Governor election news, the Election Committee for Bangkok rejected a request from the Red Shirts to position 10,000 Red Shirts inside polling stations to observe the election on March 3.

Chairman of the Bangkok Election Committee Taweesak Tuchinda said it was illegal for any outsiders to be inside polling locations, however, he did say it was acceptable for them to be outside.

Red Shirt Leader Thida announced that 10,000 Red Shirts would be sent out to monitor all 6,548 polling stations for the Bangkok Governor election.

She also said that "rapid deployment teams" would be dispatched immediately to any polling area suspected of having anomalies.

As I have a voting station along the road outside of my apartment I'll keep members here posted. Mind you, I do not expect any 'anomalies', in the last general elections the district here (#5) voted in the Pheu Thai candidate Leelavadeewhistling.gif

gosh how she's changed from the cute, perky movie actress she used to be famous for.... with just the right amount of make-up ...

compared to what she is now doing.... putting on too much make-up and weight..... inside Parliament

Good luck to you and her constituents. I look forward to your on-the-ground reports.

Was wondering just what their definition of an anomalie is, possibily voting for the wrong candidate?

Seems to me to be a dangerous situation as we have seen in the past the threatening behavior of the reds.

If a couple of them are standing outside each polling station in their red shirts probably with their 'vote for signes' could it not be taken as a threat?

I suppose it could be taken even farther as in " Who are you voting for" that could lead to complaints and possibly any result being annuled.

And just what will these "rabid rapid deployment teams" be instructed to do? Wil they gave sharpened bamboo sticks, sling shots, petrol cans or what?

No need for weapons, that message was already delivered years ago, but a stack of 100-Baht notes might be useful, to cover 'travelling-expenses' ? wink.png

Both negative and positive reinforcement, to support 'true democracy', by voting the right way ! sad.png

But surely the police can be relied upon, to ensure that there will be no intimidation of any kind, for a suitable fee to cover their own costs ? whistling.gif
