breadbin Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Hi all It's a few years since we went up to Udon and from reading here things are different. What I want to know is what is now on offer in Udon? Bowling? MacDonalds? Etc. I asking really for kids to do? Eat? Movies? Etc. Thanks
thrilled Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Udon is A progressive little city.did I say little.maybe not so much.more people are finding out what A gem it is.you'll like it there.
Pawpcorn Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 You may need to make the 1 1/2 hour trek to KK to be able to see a movie with an English soundtrack, though... Last few times I checked it was 100 % Thai
diggledunc Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Pawpcorn wouldn't disagree with you but have lived in KK when I went to university there and really would say its not farang friendly like Udon. To OP Udon has changed so much in the last few years I would say you will be surprised. More hotels at good prices and the new development near the railway station and improved market are great. If no car try and stay at @home or if you can get a deal Panarai (think I splet that right). I go often living 90k from there. For Isan I think brilliant how its changed.
aussiep Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Hi, Have been to Udon Thani 3 times last year, I like it, if you like a layed back place after Bangkok, Pattaya Phuket style. Local transport is a bit of a problem with no motercycle taxis and over priced Tok Toks. There are some Songtouws but restricted routs. Bit hard to get to know the local farungs living there. The bar scene is not right in your face like other places. aussiep
breadbin Posted February 20, 2013 Author Posted February 20, 2013 Thanks aussiep. My wide is from Udon but haven't been for 3/4 years and I heard it built up. Probably pay a visit this year if can afford it. Good luck
