New Housing Estate Has Tot Lines. What Isp Can I Choose?

We will move into a L&H new estate in Bangkok and they tell us TOT phone lines are installed. With that in mind what are my ADSL choices besides TOT - which I have found to be poor in past elsewhere.

Can I choose 3BB or True as an alternative to run on the TOT line or is my only option TOT Internet?

Probably not...your choices will probably be TOT, TOT, or TOT if there are only TOT lines feeding the estate. But there may be some concessionaires like JINET who can provide service over TOT lines. I did that once here in Bangkok for about a year when I didn't have much of a choice in ISPs since only TOT phone lines were in my western Bangkok moobaan and the TOT ADSL sucked at the time (it's better now I hear)....but the JINET service was a little pricey....I guess they had to get their profit while still paying TOT for use of TOT lines. But now I'm on True since they installed cable TV & internet in my moobaan in mid 2011...they didn't install phone service or ADSL service because TOT apparently owns the phone line rights in my area. Maybe True provides cable TV/internet to your estate? No shortage of little telecommunication kingdoms within Thailand.

Have 3bb here about 30km outside Korat, and it is a completely separate line install, although I can't say with confidence how it gets out this far unless they have totally distinct infrastructure.

Used to have TOT land line and ADSL but no longer. I didn't know 3bb didn't rely on the TOT land line jack, I thought it was one in the same, but came to learn recently it doesn't.

To prove the point, wife cancelled the TOT land line rental and house phone # completely last month and sure and heck, we still have internet on the stand alone 3BB line to the house, and just use cell phones for calls.

Anyhow, worth a call or website visit to check options in your area, including True as PIB mentioned.

Just get Tot. if truemove decides to bring true ultra cable internet or adsl, you can easily cancel tot and move to true online.

TOT phone lines. the replies are a bit odd here.

Almost 10 years ago now was TOT phone line here, the only option in this area when the house was built + Internet was True. I get the monthly phone bill from TOT.......internet bill from True..

There was then and now to this day, almost 10 years on still NO other option, and yes I have asked and got a Thai to ask many times.......... NO I cannot have TOT internet.. 3BB or any other

​Maybe your TOT line is least from a internet provider and you will not have any option as to what internet you can have.

it really does not matter. how about to disconnect your old line at you moo baan, wherever it starts and than tell 3BB,TRUE or what so ever to plug in there. You own the wire!

So, you got a working line? Dont ask company xyz to bring in another one. Dont get exploited by the manger. Use the old line. Unless you really need a landline. True,3BB CAT and many others do not carry phone services any more.

It is all to do with if these Companies have a relay anywhere near. or you may get them but very slow... If i drive out of the Village and through the next Village to the main road there is a 3BB shop [ it is about 3 km away ]

They have explained more than once that there service would be to far from relay point to my house........ So at moment get 10 Mbps from True... 3BB say would be lucky to get 3 from them on a good day..

What is with this new TV cable Company ? So say within 2 years 85% of Thailand will have there cable installed, TV, internet and landlines..

This sounds like what I want! Thanks for replies to all , it sounds like I will have to see what can be done by asking around and each ISP based on reply below. Thanks.

I think my option may be similar. Did True have to run a whole new line to your house or could they plug into the TOT line? How was True Vs TOT? I have used 3BB, True and TOT elsewhere and prefer them in that order, I would prefer not to use TOT at all as I find their service appalling. Appreciate your reply about an L&H project.
