Koh Kut (Koot) Island

Featured Replies

I'm planning to take a group of 8 people to Koh Kut in late April or early May.

1. Is it possible to ferry our truck there? I know it's a small place but that way we can explore and stay anywhere we want without worry about how far it is away from everything else or deal with whatever taxi mafia operates there...

2. If it's not possible to take our truck by ferry, is there a secure car park where ferries leave in Trat?

3. How would 8 people get around the island together? 4 motorcycles? Songthaew? What are prices like for both options?

4. Is a ferry available directly from Trat to Koh Kut year round?

Thanks!

Hi!

It's not possible to get your car here by ferry unless you rent a barge ;-)

The two ferries (Ko Kut Express & Koh Kood Princess) both leave from Laem Sok which is about 40min. from Trat by taxi. Next to that pier is another one used by Siriwhite/CP Laem Sok Group which is a speedboat company. There is a car park at both piers and Siriwhite also has accommodation next to the pier. The ferries operate during low season. The speedboats run depending on the weather.

Getting around with a group of 8 can be quite a hassle to be honest. A trip of 15min. can easily be charged for 400 THB and you need the driver to wait etc. otherwise you can't get back. Motorbikes give the freedom to go everywhere and it's a lot of fun too. Normal price is 300 THB a day, but if you rent four for a couple days you can probably get a discount. Many resorts charge 400 THB a day.

There is no public transport at the moment. There are a few taxi's operating but nobody knows when and where, so could be an idea to figure that out.

Good luck!
