Harm And Pain

Harm and Pain

This from The Scotsman:

"Iran has threatened the United States with "harm and pain" for its role in possibly hauling Tehran before the UN Security Council over its nuclear programme.

America in return warned that Tehran had enough nuclear material to make up to 10 atomic bombs, adding it was "time for the Security Council to act".

See the link? In a complete dissociation between what they think is a thought crime on the part of the US, and taking the matter to the UN, words are met with physical threat.

For your viewing pleasure, check out the test below. Its existence can make Iran’s threat as hollow as the bunker which that MOAB is trained on:

Here is what the Iranian delegate actually said:

"The United States has the power to cause harm and pain," Ali Asghar Soltanieh, the chief Iranian delegate to the IAEA, said, reading from a statement. "But the United States is also susceptible to harm and pain. So if that is the path that the U.S. wishes to choose, let the ball roll."

As you can see from the whole statement, he is threatening retaliation in the event that the US causes "harm and pain" to Iran.

Many believe the Iranians are (possibly) referring to reducing their oil production significantly to drive up prices.

Makes sense. If the US causes "harm and pain" to Iran by forcing sanctions through the Security Council (which would adversely affect Iran's economy), Iran could/would retaliate by driving up oil prices, which would cause "harm and pain" to the US economy, even though the US doesn't buy oil from Iran.

Nothing in his statement indicates intent to attack the US, though that is implied in almost every news article about this. Most of those articles conveniently leave out the first part of the statement.

I find it funny that the State Department is now claiming that Iran already has enough material to build 10 bombs.

For the last few months, everything that has been reported seems to agree that they couldn't build a bomb yet, as they weren't able to enrich enough material to make a single bomb, let alone 10.

A couple of days ago it was reported (on Faux) that Iran had up to 20 centrifuges working on enriching uranium. According to the report, to get enough material to make a single bomb, they would have to have close to 20,000 centrifuges operating !

Now suddenly the State department is claiming they already have enough material to make 10 bombs ?

I personally don't think Iran should get "the bomb". Of course, India and Pakistan shouldn't have gotten it either.

Iran is just to unstable, politically, to be trusted with such a weapon. It is a country run more by emotion and ideology than politics. It's true rulers (the mullahs) would see the bomb as a gift from Allah, to be used against any enemies of their faith. As we have seen repeatedly in recent months, almost anyone can be considered an enemy of the faith.

Those mullahs also believe that any Iranians that were killed in a retaliatory strike would be considered martyrs and go directly to heaven. They don't see a down-side to using a nuclear weapon.

Not to mention that Iran supports numerous terrorist organizations, and could/would conceivably get one of those proxy organizations to carry out a strike for them. (Dumb as they are, they probably believe it couldn't be traced back to them).

Can you imagine if the Chechnyians got a bomb from Iran, and used it in Moscow ? Or Hezbollah setting one off in Tel Aviv ?

I think the results would backfire on the Islamic community as a whole. If a Muslim group used a nuke against any other group/nation, I think world opinion would turn against them very quickly, and violently.

Ahh it's not his fault. He was just making a futile attempt to have the last word in as many threads as possible. Didn't do any good though, just like this post ! :o
