You can only get single entry non-o based upon being over 50 for retirement. Passport plus copy is all that is needed along with completed application.

Do they need to see money joe?

I am at the end of a 1 year multi non-imm O but will only have the funds for a retirement visa in about 6 weeks. So a single entry now and another in 3 months should do it OK I think, I am assuming that they can do two back to back single entries.

Actually if that is your plan you could save 1,000 baht by just getting a single entry tourist visa and 60 days later using your new account to change that to a 90 day non immigrant entry at immigration for 2,000 baht and then extending normally during the last 30 days of that entry.

Thank you loppers that's most helpful. So I can save 1000 by getting a 60 day tourist visa and converting it to a non imm O at my local (Nakhon Sawan) immigration, which also saves a second trip to Savannakhet.

Top man, thanks again.

Few use that office so can not say 100% but if they do not you can do in Bangkok and then do the normal extension there. But most will do for retirement extensions.

Thanks again, sorry to come up with a probably silly question but I am assuming it is OK to get the Laos visa at the border at Savannakhet??

I have only ever been to Vientiane previously, and just been looking at a (fairly out of date) Lonely Planet which states that you need to possess a visa before going there.

For retirement it would need to be 800,000 THB or if you are short you need to show a combinaton of money in the bank and yearly income, together totaling 800,000.

Showing an income of 65,000 a month will also do.

Income from abroad must be certified by letter from your embassy.
