Buy Train Ticket In Chiang Rai?

Featured Replies

I need to book a train ticket from Chiang Mai to Bangkok, however, I won't be going to Chiang Mai unti the day I leave for Bangkok. Does anyone know a place in Chiang Rai to purchase train tickets even though we don't have a train station? Or a way to do it online that actually works?

Many happy thanks

(and yes, I know planes are faster, buses are whatever people think
buses are, and driving yourself is oh so flexible - but I love trains,
and for my purposes it's the best option so please just let me know if
you know of where I can get a ticket and don't feel compelled to tell me
all about all of the other ways I could go)

I suggest ask a Thaivisa member in Chiangmai to buy you a ticket. A while ago you could call to the trainstation to make a reservation just need to show up few hours before departing. My xgf did this once for me, they might still offer this service. The buscompanies do the same, I call them in Udon when Im in Laos when I need go to Chiangmai. Showup time 1,5 hrs in advance.

Enjoy your train journey ! The food in the restaurant is pretty good, just don't put your head outside the window when in a tunnel or you get a black face

Try a travelagent. THey wil charge a booking fee but it should not be a problem.

thanks, maybe I'll try another travel agent. the one I tried left me with the impression that without a local train staion they can't book tickets. And I know that in Chiang Mai if you go to a travel agent they send someone off to the station to get your ticket, so that made sense. But maybe some have other ways.

I have a friend a red taxi owner he can make the booking for you for 200b. no problem.
