Insurance

Featured Replies

Guys,

What kind of insurance are you all using.

Kind of looking around right now what is on the market here.

So what you guys pay monthly or per year and what are the cons and the pros of your personal or spouses insurance here in Thailand?

Also are most hospitals covered in it??

Thanks

Is there even something available like a life insurance here?

My wife and I have health insurance with BUPA but I am disinclined to give you such details as as to the cost and the pros and cons of our health insurance packages. I suggest that the best thing to do is to go and talk to BUPA, or Sun Alliance, and tailor whatever package they provide to your own requirements. If you sign up with BUPA before you are 60 years old, you will be able to renew your health insurance annually until your death. If you wait until you are older than 60 years then your membership will cease at the end of your 74th year. I don't know whether or not Sun Alliance offers the same extended cover. Most hospitals will recognise insurance cover and payment is claimed directly from the insurance company. If you are hospitalised out in the "sticks" then you will probably have to pay first and then seek re-imbursement from the insurance company.

Life insurance is available from other insurance companies...I use Bangkok Insurance Company which is a subsidiary of the Bangkok Bank and I can renew the policy up to the end of my 99th year!!

Dirk,

For my family and myself, I took up Aviva through a local broker in Samui.

Dirk,

I suggest you call and make an appointment to see:

Kees Peperkamp, on 038 300785 and mobile: 01 6508408. His offices are in South Pattaya.

He was recommended to me by a couple of farangs and he is an absolute gentleman and is agent for New hampshire (AIG), the largest Insurer in the world.

I have insured my house and car through him, and got very good rates.

I doubt you will be disappointed.
