Young Men Arrested For Fight With Briton In Pattaya

Guy old enough to know better is drunk on walking street at breakfast time. Some how "breakfast" is changed to "snooker joint" where he gets into an argument over damages. Kicking follows.

We're getting there old bean...though the phrase "old enough to know better" has made my blood freeze for far too many years now especially when uttered by the wife....

respectfully, the original post said a trained "paramedic", not a "medic". I would account there to be a fair difference between those two things.

However, whether a trained medic (doctor) or a trained paramedic, neither would have (legal) protection if they offered aid.

But I suppose the point is, that any farang would waded in (even with the best of intentions) would stand a fair chance of getting caught up in the kicking. Sad as it is, the only sensible (and safe) option would be to offer aid AFTER it was all over.

Paramedics get trained not to ADD to the casualty total.

(note on edit, we are talking a non-Thai, non board certified in Thailand medic)

Had to Wiki this!

Medic is a general term for a person involved in medicine; a physician, medical student, or military medical corpsman. In the UK, the term "medic" amongst doctors indicates that someone has followed a "medical" career path accredited by the MRCP such as cardiology or endocrinology.

Paramedic is a healthcare professional who works in emergency medical situations. Paramedics provide advanced levels of care for medical emergencies and trauma. The majority of paramedics are based in the field in ambulances, emergency response vehicles, or in specialist mobile units such as cycle response. Paramedics provide out-of-hospital treatment and some diagnostic services, although some may undertake hospital-based roles, such as in the treatment of injuries.

A paramedic would be trained to treat people in possible hostile environments I would assume.

'However, whether a trained medic (doctor) or a trained paramedic, neither would have (legal) protection if they offered aid.'

Sad fact is in today's society we see this all too often. The kid down JP's a couple of weeks back died when (apparently) simple CPR could of saved him.

I used to work nightclub doors in London so jumping in (after having a look around) is natural for me but I guess most would be concerned of their own safety. I do it because I am/was trained to do it as part of my job IMO just the same as a paramedic.

OK enough of this no more medic/paramedic posts from me!

It's been a long time since I read so much crap posted on this forum

I Also note the attitude and insults of some postings - if you get on like that in the street then I'd guess you've had a few bashings dealt to you in the past and if not it's well over due - you wouldn't be talking to me like that to the face and walk away - trust me been there done that

Also for those that think this is a rare occurrence on WS or indeed greater Pattaya - we would not be discussing this on TV only for the y'tube video - it would never have been news, it happens much more regular than some of you think

and speaking of the video - the news report and witness accounts (not those of certain people that were not there) it's enough for me to work out what went on and who should be facing charges in a court - the police also agree

Not much more to be said here - too many keyboard loud mouths with not much to contribute besides insults to others and being ignorant, give it a rest and get back to what you are usually doing - using the mouse with your left hand

Kind of funny that one poster calls another and <deleted> simply because he 'liked' a post.

If that, and the agressive overtones of his other posts and any indication of his social skills then I bet he's a real hoot to go out with on the booze with. Just make sure you practice ducking as soon as his mouth starts to open.

Would not be surprised to see his name in a similar report about the OP, very soon.

The simple truth here and possible education for us all is - never under any circumstance have a dispute with a bar owner in walking street - it has been proven time and time again over the years that the MB Taxi drivers and others in the area are ready and more than willing to get involved as a gang using weapons they have stashed in various places nearby - they will beat you to a pulp and take great pleasure doing it

If you are in a bar on walking street and you find an error in your bill or are accused of something that you did or didn't do you are in big trouble if you try to dispute the issue - you will be set upon by the local soi dogs and end up either severely injured or dead - this sort of sh#$t goes down on the beach everyday were tourists are victims of assault and violent threats, I have witnessed a few of these attacks on WS and read about many more

This particular incident that was caught on camera offers a very close insite as to what to expect from these thugs - and for those that live here and don't frequent WS I'll bet part of the reason is the fact that it's a dangerous place

Smedley I totally agree with what you are saying problem is getting ripped off when sober you make (logical) allowances for it after all TiT right? Throw a few drinks in and its not always a case of getting brave but getting bored with the way a lot of tourists are taken for fools.

As you say and I will repeat it for the BM's that are tucked up in bed by 10pm it happens all the time. These dogs don't need provoking they hang around waiting for it. Here is a YT clip I am sure you have all seen before but shows how if its not a pack in front it will be a sucker punch from behind.

I thought this group of Thais demonstrated admirable restraint. They only kicked him three times after he was unconscious..... < irony button off>

I think in much the same way that Thais may get tired of drunken farangs, there are many farangs that get tired of the endless petty rip offs by the Thai bars. Thus I think that conflicts are inevitable, so it is just a matter of what degree you or the Thai bar wants to escalate it to... My general approach to a dispute situation is to hold your ground, and calmly state if the problem cannot be resolved on the spot, it is no problem to call the tourist police and have them come and solve it. This generally works instantly.

you know what really annoys me

Stu has a beautiful family "including young kids" a beautiful wife and a beautiful house, not one person on here has any idea what real life is about, you have been sheltered as bus drivers - taxi drivers factory workers or whatever the <deleted> you have done but not one of you has seen or done (or would have the balls to do) anything this man has done so post on here all you like if you think you are worthy - I know for sure most are not

I've been on a few nights out with Stu when he can get time between looking after his family and coaching the local football team - he's straight down the line - takes no sh^^t from anyone and is well tuned in - like me his tolerance for a$$holes is limited but will walk away with a fools pardon

now you keyboard warriors go get busy with you plonking and porn and give it a rest

Post also about how tax he pays and how high is electric bill is of 600 baht and wants it lower. And most important wife never was a BG or him with a H*******

Put it down to experience and move on.

Is there a contact number for the Society for the Beatification of St Stu of Pattaya? Presumably he will not be the patron saint of "bus drivers, taxi drivers, factory workers, or whatever the <deleted>". Might I suggest he be the patron saint of morning drunks?biggrin.png

As your friend alluded in his post & as reported in the media he has no or little recollection of the events. If the media report is accurate & he has not pressed charges for assault as he has no recollection of the event; tick in the box for that decision. Apparently RTP have pressed charges. As a comment, a persons persona can change when heavily intoxicated and in many cases do not have their usual public behaviour under control, especially when as you state "takes no sh^^t from anyone". Not saying this is what happened, just an observation.

Nope the price can vary...Was in Bangkok and a small bar on Soi 33 thought I was drunk after few rounds with some of the girls. The cashier handed me a bill for 7000 baht. I laughed, handed it back , and told her to bring me the correct bill. She looked shocked as I recounted each drink I had, and each round for the girls... :-) She then brought the correct bill which was about 2500 baht. I have had many many bills padded. Just a matter then of what you want to do about it. Handing over money to people cheating you ?? Tough to swallow. A punch up over 100 baht looks pretty silly though. Again I deeply believe a large number of these bar conflicts that result in fights are about the bill.... Edited by EyesWideOpen

Stuart actually coaches one of the local football teams contributing to the local community in his spare time

When he is not drunk at breakfast time of course.

.

That sounds like slander to me.

do you have any evidence to support such an allegation?

Why not give the man a break?

hey chaps, just been thinking and remember a story i was told of 4 frangs beltin and kickin the crap out of another farang in a village up country, apparently 2 had their visa`s stamped and cost the 4 of them a bit of pain and money and this was only in the last 18mths, wonder why that was not on here, have to admit i got a good kicking as a young bloke, i was lookin for trouble so never winged, went back to square things up a few weeks later and got the best 1 on 1 hiding i ever had, gave up then not good enough, we had a few beers a couple of years later, no harm done except for the ego....

Posted

Well there were actually TWO versions of the one side of the story posted. One source said the gent damaged a hookah, the second a snooker cue (or 'rod' as they called it).

Either way, it is indeed funny to see the moral highgrounders applying their outrage when the only vile behaviour on show here is from the Thai lads; the rest is mere hearsay.

.

I see no reason why this shouldn't go viral.

unless that happens the authorities won't give a damn.

Firstly I was the person that was assaulted and before you all jump on the band wagon and say I deserved to have the shit, kicked out of me. There are always two sides of a story and although I was a bit worse for where I did not or would not ever hit a woman, we were having words with the girl behind the bar who said that we had broken a cue, we were not even playing pool, but according to the paper we broke something else. The police have told me it was a cue, still don't believe it. We were about to leave when we were attacked, at no time we we were throwing balls or hitting people with a cue. I did throw one ball after being attacked,as there was nothing else to use as the Thai lads had all the cues beating me.the police have told me that I was rowing with the owner and the Thais were protecting her, but at no stage I laid a hand on her.even if I had broken something i did not deserve what was handed out.to the other guy saying I am using my army career as excuse is talking ball, I also never said I was a marine I was RCT and proud of it. To the other guy that said he had mates there that saw it all you are telling lies, you also said a para medic guy just stood and watched shame on him.Lastly someone said I am a know thug, I am a family man that's been here 9 years and run a local football team. Please get you facts right before you slate someone.

Just as I suspected a few too many beers and a bit rowdy, I can honestly say I do hope those that think you deserved a pack of dogs booting you senseless do not experience the same....they will change their tune.

Yes funny how so many Thai visa posters were similar to the Thais in being quick to get the boot in.

As I stated before it doesn't take much for a bunch of Thais to start whacking someone especially if it is perceived that he is an easy mark ie alone or drunk

It happens so frequently yet we still have many posters in denial using the same old arguments eg It hasn't happened to me and I know how to behave etc etc

Whilst they can keep getting away with beating up farangs without fear of prosecution don't expect anything to change in the near future.

All the same traits as pack animals. Difference is these ones online can read and write!

.

Who says they can read?

Are you the same Stuart Levy that is in the link below?

I suppose this was a totally unprovoked attack too.

Seems to me that you are just a drunken lout that finds trouble where ever you go.

You should learn a bit of respect for the country you are a guest in, it is people like you that give British expats and holiday makers a bad name.

While I do not condone the attack on you, you are obviously not the total innocent you would have us believe.

We can only hope they knocked some sense into you this time, although I very much doubt it.

At 58 year old, you are most probably a Father and possibly a Grandparent, how proud they must be.

The age fits.. the name fits... if its the same then he is just an obnoxious drunk like many stated. The punishment while over the top is just because he can't handle his alcohol.

Yes you are right it is the same guy , an expat that follows the rules of alcohol instead of respecting the country he choose to live in.

Posted

All his followers and defenders are kinda quiet right now... i wonder why.

I keep with my opinion that the beating was way over the top but that some people just can't handle their alcohol and make a nuisance of themselves and provoke stuff like this. He seems to be one of them as his history now clearly shows.

Nothing wrong with getting drunk, drunk and obnoxious that is a different matter altogether. He seems to fall in the later category.

To make the paper twice.. makes you wonder what he did in between that went unreported.

From the video......

" What is wrong with you people? "........

Firstly we all have to take responsibility for ourselves, wandering about drunk and argumentative is always liable to get you in trouble, not only in Thailand.

However there's no excuse for this pack mentality, violence begets violence. That video showed more than two Thais beating an older man lying on the ground effectively defenceless. Out with the police processing the complaint, it's up to the guy involved to question his own behaviour, it could have been a lot worse.

Your right on the money we have to take responsibility for ourselves.. this guy does not seem to learn or be able to handle alcohol.

But the pack mentality and the beating is way over the top and should be punished.

Come on he's had a p7ss in the wrong place, and had an argument with some bar owner, he's living in Pattaya its hardly the epicentre of Thai culture and gentility ... its a lawless town full of folk looking to escape reality and screw young women of immoral virtue... (and those that have moved on from doing this and see themselves as above it)

Most interesting thing to see is that in 2005 people were out enjoying themselves and didn't create 10 pages on a similar story.

PS My football coach got 18 months for beating his wife up in the UK about 25 years ago.

Actually I don't see me above any of it, the guy is just a guy that cant handle his booze. He gets annoying and aggressive as it shows.

I got nothing against Pattaya or drinking and drunks.. just the aggressive ones and even though this beating was way over the top it is to be expected to happen to guys like that. He made the papers 2 times already wonder how many scrapes he had that did not get reported.
