An editorial in the Washington Post on Thursday said that Burma’s reforms are far from finished, and already they are “displaying a dark side.†The editorial criticized the Burmese government’s response to the recent anti-Muslim violence, which has killed at least 40 people since late March. The article also criticized the National League for Democracy, saying “Aung San Suu Kyi, who appears focused on presidential elections scheduled for 2015, has been largely silent on the issue, leading some to suggest she is catering to ethnic Burmese voters. If so, that would be both a moral error and a political miscalculation.â€
