[Myanmar] Burma’S Rohingya Blocked From Suu Kyi Visit In Japan

Featured Replies

Rohingya Muslims living in Japan say they are being prevented from meeting Burmese democracy icon Aung San Suu Kyi when she visits this weekend, AFP reported Thursday. Zaw Min Htut, who leads a group of about 200 Rohingyas Muslims in the country, told the news agency that event organizers said they were not welcome at events to greet the Nobel laureate, who is expected to meet about 10,000 Burmese during the trip, “because some Buddhist minorities are against our participation.†Japan’s foreign ministry said event organizers were solely responsible for deciding who could participate and the ministry was not involved.
