Postponed peace talks between the government and Kachin rebels are likely to take place before the end of the month, reported Eleven News. Aung Naing Oo, a representative from the Myanmar Peace Center in Rangoon, was quoted as saying relations between the two sides had improved markedly, allowing the Kachin Independence Organization and United Nationalities Federal Council to meet with the central government. Talks were supposed to take place before April 10, but were pushed back due to a lack of preparedness. The two sides met previously in February and March in an attempt to reach an elusive ceasefire agreement.
