Young Thai Fatally Shot During Drunken Bravado
SATTAHIP:--A 22-year-old man was shot in the head 4 times while walking toward a 21-year-old gunman who had just fired 2 warning shots at him. Their dispute began when the victim accidentally stepped on the gunman’s foot while dancing at a Bang Saray festival.

SATTAHIP – April 22, 2013, at 12:15 a.m., a report of a teenager using a gun to fatally shoot a victim was received by Pol. Lt. Sinsamut Boonthassana, investigation police on duty, Sattahip police station.

The incident occurred in front of Siriporn beauty shop, address 120/74 Moo 8 Tambon Bang Sarey, Amphur Sattahip, Chonburi province.

He went to inspect the scene with Pol. Col. Chonnaphat Nawalak, Superintendent, Sattahip police station, Pol. Col. Prakorb Saengphring, Deputy Superintendent, Pol. Lt. Col. Niphon Pomsanarm, Deputy Superintendent, Pol. Lt. Col. Thapanat Chayarnphat, Inspector, detective police team and the rescue officers of Sawangrojjanatharmmasatharn Sattahip foundation.

At the scene, officers found groups of many teenagers were standing around to see the corpse. There were bottles of liquor and soda dispersed all over the ground.

The victim was identified as Mr. Chatchai or Tong Nukhunthod, age 22, address 82/10 Moo 1 Tambon Bang Sarey, Amphur Sattahip, Chonburi province.

He was lying down with his face turned up on a pile of blood. He had been shot in the head a total of 4 times with a .38 caliber gun. There were wounds in his left forehead, the middle of his head, his right cheek and right ear. After the gunman shot the victim, he drove his pickup truck to Sukhumvit road in the direction of Pattaya.

I guess the Thai-ness involves how feet are considered then how "face" is considered followed by a type of bravado in group situations. Not all unique to Thailand but magnified somewhat here. All quite tragic in this case however.

pretty sure a gun was involved on Pattaya Beach during the festivities on Friday, the crowd was watching a fight down by the water and suddenly they all turned and ran, they were quite a distance from the fight and the fight only involved half a dozen young Thais so the only reason I could see for them running is if a gun was pulled out

Have a read of Yahoo and BBC news and see what's happening in the great Western civilizations.

Look at someone the wrong way in Britain and its a good kicking or stabbing (because they ain't got easy access to guns). In the States you risk being shot.
