4evermaat Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 For a baby, toddler, or young pre-school child, I was looking for standalone letters and numbers of english and thai alphabet that were 3" or bigger. It's mostly for playing with, but there can also be an educational/learning element to them as well to begin the teaching process. They can either be the plastic magnet type that you put on the refrigerator door, wooden or plastic letters that lay flat on the floor or larger (3d) ones that each letter can stand up on their own on the floor or desk. They should be large enough so a toddler cannot eat it, (so like 3-7 inches long or so?) The limited toys I've seen in like Tesco in Chumphon were more like board games and the individual letters/pieces were too small for a baby. I went to the new homepro and the letters that they have to make door signs were closer to what I want, but they are 25-60 baht per letter, and they are not necessarily child proof. So I'm looking for a babies-r-us, kids-r-us, or a Thai equivalent shop that would possibly stock these items? Maybe certain teaching supply shops or some completely random store may have this also? We're in Bangkok now, so anything on or near BTS / MRT would be helpful, although I'm thinking maybe chinatown might have something also. List the address/phone/ or nearby landmark whenever possible. Which letters they have (english/thai). Can also order also from a company if we can view photo. edit, here are some ideas of what I am looking for. http://www.amazon.com/Melissa-Doug-Magnetic-Wooden-Alphabet/dp/B000IBPD76 http://www.educationaltoysplanet.com/jumbo-abc-chunky-puzzle.html http://www.educationaltoysplanet.com/learning-the-alphabet.html a little more advanced http://www.ebeanstalk.com/WJ-Fantasy/toy-product-detail/ABC-Building-Blocks.html Thanks.
NancyL Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 In Chiang Mai, there's a large bookstore in the old city between the U.N. Irish pub and the Vision Center glasses store. They have a large selection of teacher supplies, including letters like this. The store also has a large selection of office, art and hobby supplies. Technically, it's a bookstore, but I've always shopped on the top floors where they have the art supplies. Never looked at the books on the first floor!
