Jimmy, Could you please add another landmark or two for me since I don't know the Buffalo Bar.

Thanks.

Just to be sure....

From Pattaya Klang head south on 3rd road. Keep going past the old Xcite disco site on your right, past a neon sign for the Full Love Inn on your left, past Soi Chaiyapoom on your right. The next soi in your right is Soi Lengkee which has a hardware store on one corner and a Mityon-type motorbike shop on the other corner. About 50 metres past Soi Lengkee on your left (still on 3rd Road) is a car rental place and then a row of around 6-8 shophouses. The khao soy place is the second shop in this row - a double unit. At the end of this row is a small soi and after the soi is The Castle fetish club and The Buffalo Bar. Almost directly opposite on the other side of 3rd Road is a coffee shop called something like Coffee Club. If you're driving down 3rd Road and you pass a bar called The Ranch on your right or if you see a sign for The Village Chippy on your left you've gone too far.

Do you memorise every single building, bar, shop, restaurant, knocking shop etc etc, as you are going around town?

What is your point????

Khao Soi is actually a Burmese dish, now adopted into Lanna cuisine. I eat it fairly regularly at a little Lanna restaurant on third road. Coming from Jomtien on Thapraya rd, turn right onto 3rd road. Straight through at first set of traffic lights and about a 100 mtrs further along there is a small car park set back on the left hand side. The Lanna restaurant is beside it on the southern side. They do Khao Soi with and without the coconut milk, as you wish. The noodle is about 15 mm wide. Beware the place opens early, is packed between 12 and 1pm and closes when the food is gone, often before 3pm.

Thanks for this.

This restaurant has been mentioned on here before, but I had no luck in finding it.

Look forward to giving it a try.

Thanks again.

For darksiders there's a new kanom jeen/khao soi place opened up on the east side of the railway road (the side that heads south), between the Nong Ket Yai junction and the Chaiyapornwittee junction. From Sukhumvit take Soi 15 going inland (the junction almost opposite the Cholchan Resort). Cross the railway tracks and turn right (heading south) and after around 1km look for a green and red sign on your left with Thai writing and some pictures of food.

Blimey, you bite easily. Take a chill pill, I was only breaking your balls that you seem to know every nook and cranny all over Pattaya.

How long you been here for?

You're in luck guys. 3rd Road - about 5 doors north of the Buffalo Bar. Mostly sells khanom jeen but also does a pretty mean khao soy - chicken (drumstick) or pork (sliced). As good as it gets in Pattaya I reckon.

No signs in English outside - it's next to a visa/lawyer/work permit place. Double shophouse - basic tables with dark wooden stools. Open-fronted with a couple of tables out front. Has parking in front. Khao soy 40-50 Baht.

Enjoy...

Thanks for that jimmy , will give it a try next time i;m passing buffalo bar . have driven past many times but next time will stop and give it a go.

Supnay Northern Lanna Cuisine is Newly opened. It just near the traffic light at the Tony fitness if you are coming from Third Road heading towards traffic light. Easy to come to Supnay, From Sukhumvit road take a right turn at South Pattaya and right turn at the trafic light and about couple of minutes walk the restaurant is on the right hand side. We hope to see you soon.

See u tomorrow, i love Khao Soy

Please clarify....

To me...3rd road is where the flyover bridge to Bali-Hai harbor is located, so the restaurant is inland, on 3rd road, from there?

thanks...

The best and most authentic khaosoy is on 3rd road, southwest of south road traffic lights about 125 m east of the traffic lights for Soi 17/Kopai at the Pattaya Tai 1 intersection (north side).

WOW, thats a bit hard to understand hahahahha. 3RD ROAD ???? is north or south from pattaya tai lights, than left side of road or right side????

Try this Bernie, coming along 3rd road (Chaloem Prakiat) from the south road traffic lights and headed towards the Bali Hai flyover, the road bears around to the right and BEFORE you get to the next set of traffic lights, there's a box-section junction which is Pattaya Tai 1/Kopai 4. The restaurant pictured is immediately on your right.

They do a nice Khao Soy at the Cabbages and Condoms restaurant at the bottom of Pratumnak Soi 4.

Posted

They have Khao Soy in Ruen Khao Pun there? I only know that they are good for the various Kanom Chin and currys, used to go there a lot when they were back on Central road near CarreFour then. I didn't go there as much since they've moved.

If they have Khao Soy it'll be worth a walk down

I'm still devoted to the one opposite Access Inn on 3rd road.

Yes, they have always had it--I used to eat it there on Central Road back then. I've eaten it at the new location as well. I don't think their version is that great, but it's ok.
