Fonda Shot Down

Featured Replies

The worst thing to do, as an American, is to blindly say, "Yes, Sir, Commander-in-Chief, whom do I kill next, what innocent child gets the next incoming bomb?"

Boon Me and his like are the equivalent of the 1933 SA for the Bush Administration. There is no reasoning possible. It's a lost cause. They adore wars because they never went into the heat of the battle and only dreams of glorious victory that they will never experience. Working on a desk in a Vietnam camp doesn't qualify as being in the heart of the battle.

Butterfly, lamphun and zzap all admire Jane Fonda.

What more needs to be said about this sad character? :D

Sad and pathetic... :D

Sad and pathetic is how I would describe people that keep going on about her....

Barbarella, has on many occasions appologized for her actions.she has not appologized for being anti-war, but she has appologised for being seen in those photos "astride" the VC weapons. A stupid act by a young silly girl.

I'm sure that she has moved on.......:D

So has poor Charlie Manson.

Why do people keep harping about what he did way back then? :o

30+ years after Nam I think it's obvious that Jane Fonda proved she was right. 50,000+ U.S. lives and who would care to explain, in retrospect, what those lives did for the American people. Or the South Vietnamese? What was gained that was worth that price? Specifically. Care to offer a logical explanation, Boonie? (Might be a trick question. :D )

Silence is golden. :D

Your age there, K. Tippaporn? :o

One does not give aid and comfort to the enemy when one's country is at war... :D

Sadly, I might be older than you, Boonie. :D Fortunately, I look much younger to the Thais. :D

You're making an erroneous assumption in a number of ways, Boonie. First of all, the entire country obviously was not at war in Nam. Secondly, because you have a government hawking war doesn't mean that the entire population down to the last man, women and child is willing to blindly follow like dumb sheep. Some people actually use their own brains. :D

Still waiting to hear a logical explanation of what the 50,000+ lives did for the U.S., or anyone else for that matter. :D

Well, what did all the deaths incurred during the American Civil War accomplish either? :D

Lame. Apples to oranges.

I think you will find that charlie manson has not moved on..l think that the last probation report stated that he was still a raving loonie. No cigar on that one georgie... :D

Back to the subject topic...Hanoi Jane, a real nurotic bitch.

Never could hold on to a husband.

How many have sh1t-canned her so far?

Even those two left-wing commie-pinkos - Tom Hayden & Ted Turner couldn't handle her sh1t... :o

Give someone enough rope and they'll eventually hang themselves. Communism is an unworkable social structure, doomed to fail even if left alone.

But to suggest that Nam was the cause of it's collapse in other parts of the world is, well, delusional. :D

It's always easy to rant and rave from the comfort of your wingback chair, nestled closely to the warmth of the fireplace. Bush should be out on the frontlines in Iraq. The argument that we could ill afford to lose the president is absurd.

Edit: Hey, where did everbody go???

Is Communism a major movement today or has it been almost completely discredited? :o

Well we know that NOW don't we? :D

She stood by what she believed in....the keystone of democracy....

A brave person indeed.

Is derision you're only argumentative response, Boonie?

Since she was a representative of the anti-war movement, and now that enough time has passed to judge her and Nam, to what benefit was the loss of 50,000+ lives? What did it achieve? Was "Hanoi" Jane wrong in the end? If she helped to stop a senseless war I think not. She ended up saving lives.

Jane Fonda was anti-war and the hawks didn't like it. So they cry about it. Typical. If you're not pro-war you get labeled as unpatriotic and a commie. Typical. Come up with some rational arguments or close the thread. Otherwise it's just a pointless, opinionated rant. :o

This is tired old topic simply because no one is willing to change their convictions. To rationally discuss it, nah, not a chance. :D

He still hasn't quite got his head around it, I'm afraid.

He 'thinks' Boon Mee and other 'nam vets have defeated communism 30 years ago. :D

That's besides the fact that most of S.E.Asia became communist/socialist after the yanks were sent home with their tail between their legs by a bunch of passionate, freedom-loving rebel farmers. :D

Hanoi Jane was as guilty of treason as was Tokyo Rose. She aided and abetted our enemy by making propaganda broadcasts from North Viet Nam to our troops. She should have been given a fair trial and then lined up against a wall and shot. End of story... :o

If that's the "Last Word" then this is the wrong topic. :D

Bottom line is that she fought for what she believed in. You believe differently. Six of one, half a dozen of the other. :o

Nice try, though. :D

Try looking up the definition of 'sedition' there, K. Tippaporn.

Making propaganda speeches from North Vietnam certainly falls into that catagory... :D

Shot after a 'fair' trial.

This was before GITMO, boy, it was a world in which you could speak your mind without being tortured to death by US officials, pal! :D

Btw, that was more than 30 years ago. I guess some psycho 'nam vets haven't heard of "forgive and forget", even after numerous apologies? :o

Nah...those smelly, hippie protesters had the right to demonstrate.

The first 10 ammendment to our Constitution say so.

What Hanoi Jane did, was not covered by the US Constitution... :D
