When applying for visa, wp and credential must important documents leave your control or possession? The pp is a non starter, diploma replacable for b3000 and transcripts b600.

Are copies of transcripts ok?

What sort of police check.from US? Local cops, State cops, Federal?

I read somewhere that the commission was not issuing credentials to those on O extensions by marriage? Any clear info on this?

We work almost entirely with copies of documents, except the passport. The originals are usually viewed by the Ministry of Labor when the work permit is issued, but the employee is along when that is done.

For whatever reason, we have not had to get police clearances on employees for a while. In theory, they are required, but in reality they don't need them, at least in Laos.

I have had mixed results with this. One place wanted nothing else other than official, sealed transcripts (but then they backed off when I gave them unofficial copies, lol), two other places seemed fine with copies of unofficial transcripts. I think as long as you have that, you are fine in general. It depends on the sway the visa people have though, that is my opinion. Some of these people are actually good, and they need less. Others ask for everything, because they need it as they are not good at their job.

Thanks for the response. I have unsealed and a number of sealed copies in the US. The main reason I do not want to start tossing about sealed copies is the cost. I matriculated through three colleges and universities. I ordered the transc years ago in bulk, I bet they are easily b600+ to order from 3 schools.

While I graduated from one of the top 100 universities in the US and have a year + of teaching experience (10+ yrs ago), I don't anticipate making much more than 25k teaching university.

There is a definate limit and effort I will make for 25k, 10mos a year, no holiday type work that seems to be the norm these days.

I have no problem providing them for proper salaried job +40k on condition that the unsealed originals match the sealed documents.
