What makes far greater sense would be to get a contract extension from Ronaldo and sign Suarez, (who would be far more suitable baring in mind Madrid have Di Maria and Ronaldo already) who could finally put to rest his hounding by the british press.

Hounded by the British Press....please not the victim card again.

Act the way he has, and it doesn't matter who you are, you're going to get attention. Don't like it, stop acting that way.

When Madrid come calling, it's very hard to turn down.

Mate, they weren't out for him from the offset. From the offset he was diving about all over the place. Now had he been crap, nobody would have noticed or cared much, but he wasn't crap, he was the dog's <deleted>, so all eyes were on him.

Yes we all know that the British Press has its problems, to say the least, but people like Suarez, who court controversy as much as he does, these aren't the innocent victims of the British media that need our sympathy, these are the guys who shouldn't winge and moan about all the nasty journalists that have it in for them, these are the guys who should leave it to other people to talk about that sort of stuff, these are the guys who should simply hold up their hands and accept the stupid things they have done that have put them in the spotlight, and change their ways. Or to put it another way, man up. All these excuses, justifications, reasons why it's really not their fault... makes me want to retch... so pathetic.

Absolutely not i agree. Play him up top he's a striker and quite skillful too wink.png The link up with the Barca midfield could be spectacular

I think this year showed the first signs of the power of the Barca midfield waning.

I thought Iniesta and Xavi looked tired in the CL semis. Age taking its toll maybe?

iniesta is 29 mate.

Then perhaps he's been kicked around too much?

I don't know how you can not see that they were out to get him as soon as he stepped out of line, it was a pure witch hunt from the start. I'm not defending Suarez actions, but the media did a good job on him and it worked. A great example of its success were the tabloid influenced, frenzied and OTT comments on this forum.

"the British Press has its problems" The British press are some of the most sickly, vile, heartless scum to ever put words on paper! The art of journalism and objective writing has been lost to hacks with no integrity, bottom-feeding droogs for corporate agenda.

Rant over.....

Good luck to him, I wouldn't be pissed at him for leaving on those grounds.

And most people wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire.

The sad fact is he will do the same in Madrid and profit from it.........and Bob how can anyone defend him with a record like he has?

Shame(because he is a really talented footballer) but it was always going to happen and the losers are the supporters like yourself who have stood by him.

Looks like Sturridge was a good buy now doesn't it.

Not so hard to see both sides of this. Suarez can be an impulsive lunatic, no question. The British press can be everything illustrated by Bob...and maybe even more. A marriage made in hell.

And Red, beware of Suarez following you around, on fire, and with his toofers a chompin'.tongue.png

I think that's a balanced summation JD

I think Red would think twice about not loosening a stream on Suarez then.thumbsup.gif

if suarez wants to go and play champions league football i won't particularly blame him - would like to think he'd have the decency to say that though, not claim that the media is driving him out when he's sunk his teeth into an opponent.

if he does go i guarantee it will be for less than we should get. but then i also think he still might stay another season then move after the world cup next year.

Disagree with that one Stevie. If CL was what he wanted, he could have gone last year (as we had no chance). Whilst his streetfighting temper got the better of him against Chelsea the press pressure has been constant all season and, like the vultures they are, they circled knowing sooner or later he would cock up...as we all did.

I doubt any on this forum have ever had to put up with that kind of pressure, especially whilst knowing (as I'm sure LS does) that he would <deleted> up at some stage. To put together the performances he has this year given this is unbelievable and, if he goes, he goes with my blessing and no hard feelings. Yes, he has f**ked up on more than one occasion (altho the Evra incident was a gross exaggeration to put it mildly). Wait for Dirk Kuyt's autobiography on that one.

For me, Luis is one of the greatest footballers ever to play in this country, and whilst I hope he stays, I fully understand why he feels he has to leave. It is a shame that those who should concentrate on reporting sporting issues are under so much pressure from their bosses to focus on unsavoury incidents. Had this been the case a few years ago then Cantona.. to name but one, would never have made a comeback.

You appear to have forgotten to highlight the 1st two words of the paragraph. All about opinions laddie. For instance, I don't remember any player who could have come close to scoring that goal against Newcastle. Can you?

or the set up for Dirk against Man U? If Spurs had a forward like him, you probably would have won the league this year, not finished out of the CL places.

If we'd had Mickey Mouse playing up front for us we would have done better !
