Toyota Cd Player Glitch

ive got a toyota cd/mp3/fm.am/tape deck fitted as standard in my vigo.

from the first day , when playing certain cd's , i will hear a faint clicking sound whilst the loading message appears followed after 10 seconds or so by an ERROR 1 message and the disc refuses to play , sometimes if i use the advance or scan function some tracks will play , sometimes they wont.

sometimes they will play in their entirety , sometimes they cut off after a while and the error message pops up.

all these cd's play perfectly on my home system and walkman.

this has occurred with copy music cd's and with real ones. on maybe 5 out of 100 cd's altogether.

the other 95 play perfectly.

toyota will replace the cd player , but want to remove the faulty one for testing first , knowing that i could be without a player for a lengthy period (tit) i am reluctant to let them remove it , and have just been putting up with this minor problem.

i have cleaned the faulty cd's , treated them gently and even asked them nicely to behave properly , but all to no avail.

anybody know what causes this glitch and anybody else have this problem , are all car cd players temperamental ?

Hi Tax,

I have a Fortuner and I think the base unit is the same as in your Vigo, the same happened to me with a CD that someone had made up, it plays in the house but not in the Car, I only had a problem with 1 CD, all others play fine, ones that I burned myself included. :o
