'da Vinci Code' Fuels Religious Publishing Boom

Featured Replies

Or, you can wait for my book to come out! :D How much should I charge for the paperback? :o

Depends, is it two-ply? :D

Nah, just joking. I for one is looking forward to the Da Vinco Code-movie anyway, since I like Tom Hanks as an actor.

Edit: Added quote.

Thomas Merton, I just read the Rachel Corrie website and found no references to her having a tenth of whatever amount of religion you may have. I did, however, read four eye-witness accounts of her death, which was clearly murder by those accounts, murder by an Israeli driving a Caterpillar tractor.

A person's religion (its quantity or its quality) is not a matter for you or me. There is only one Assessor in this matter.

Whatever the circumstances of Rachel Corrie's death - and it is contentious - it is now being manipulated (as you say yourself you have only read accounts that appear to witness, and at the same time blame and therefore conclude, she was murdered by the Israelis) so that those who have an anti-Israeli cause have now found a martyr.

Now, if you want examples of modern Christian pacifists who became martyrs for their faith, look no further than the Tzotzil Mayas at Acteal, Chenalho, Chiapas (12/22/1997), or to life-long Quaker and medical faculty professor, Tom Fox (Iraq, March 2006).

The dramatic deaths of those who die for their faith are indeed sad.

However, IMHO, who are we to celebrate these events in the scale of human sacrifice in God's name often at the expense of the nurse who gives her whole life to tending the sick and infirmed, or the Sister who has educated generations of our young, or the inner city priest relentlessly surviving amid the growing secularism of his environment?

Or, you can wait for my book to come out! :D How much should I charge for the paperback? :o

Tell me which charity you will be sending the money to, and I will give you a price.
