I just got back from Singapore, I nearly gave up drinking when I noticed it was 12 SGD per bottle, basically 288 baht, if you want the good stuff that is going to cost you closer to 400 baht per bottle. I went out on a relatively quiet night but it was really good fun. Met a bunch of Singaporean guys there who showed me a little of the town, it was a most welcomed change to the usual nights in Thailand. We actually, paid rounds etc etc.

I really enjoyed myself there, I wasted about 80,000 baht though with not much to show for it to be honest but the experience was great and it's so much more efficient than Thailand. They have a lot of history there so I say it's worth the experience really, I needn't have spent so much money really but I was on holiday so....

I got back to Don Muang and had to queue for the taxi, though the taxi ride was cheaper than in Singapore, Singapore really did beat Thailand in terms of professionalism. The taxi driver who drove me back home I am 99.9% certain was high on Yabba at the time as well, with all the face movements he was making, that was really unnerving.

So yeah Thailand and Vietnam are cheaper but I think the sometimes it pays to pay a little more for a better time in the end.

obviously,not a traveller,or a beliver,or still got your head stuck in the sand,went to a large resturant good group on last night,ordered three large leos,waited on by some very pretty ladies glass never empty,ordered chicken and cashew nut in a basket,arroy mak,check bin 250bht with tip.drove down to meeting place of many farangs and thais,disco and bar,met a young thai lady who agreed to spend night with me,which ive done many times with different girls,drove her home late morning,1200bht,easy,and if you go to the bars in the red light district,same girl would propaly cost you a extra 500/600 bht with bar fine and drinks.

And all these prices are for the single traveler. There's no mention of couples rates so I'll stay with the solo traveler.

If you want to blow about $600 to $700 US you can have a good time ***but it's not guaranteed.***

Star or two more gets you clean linens, guest privileges, no grease around the switch plates, toiletries, breakfast, plenty of bowing and scraping and, if you're lucky, a quiet room***** the first time.****

Taxis here are pretty cheap antwhere in Bkk if you know the map and avoid the loogans and their friendly advice in front of the hotel and hail one on he street.

Mixed drinks are a total crap-shoot. (Check out the "real" Jack Daniels thread)

A decent escort that you click with can cost you about 5000 baht for the night back at your hotel. Generally better service than some of these go-go princesses.

You can have a good or a bad outcome in either snack bracket but if either goes sideways you end up feeling less stitched up with the Soi Cowboy option.

Even with the escort, you can end up with an "early riser" who needs to get to her day job (whether she has one or not.)

Cheaper than bringing your own.

Since they didn't include cost of girl hire, this ranking is largely meaningless.

Seems about right to me. I was in Singapore for 4 nights in April. Took the Thai girlfriend. We didn't do much shopping, but we did a lot of sightseeing, eating and drinking. Including hotel and air, I figure it ran me about 80K baht.

Singapore ain't cheap, but it is very nice.

They obviously didnt factor in the soapies.

I don't pay much mind to these sorts of surveys.... their idea of fun is doing the same sort of crap one does "back home". So why leave?

The 100 Baht "beautiful Italian meal" he is referring to is the tiny plate of Tuna spaghetti for 69 Baht plus a glass of coke on the side from Santa Fe Steakhouse, available in any Central shopping mall both in Bangkok and upcountry.

So what they are saying is that the demimondaines are very reasonable in their charge out rates

Don't know where some of you guys hang, but get away from the malls and chain chow houses. 100 baht is spendy for a Thai meal. Italian I can't speak for. 1000 baht a night is the going rate for companionship. Remember, you can always pay too much for something!

Nightlife is great in the Philippines as well & I would say cheaper for the most part than even Thailand but Hotels are Higher in price so that's why it doesn't rate as Low in this example.. Pattaya is allot larger & more to offer..

I still can't figure out what is so cheap about Bangkok. Most people complain about the British pub prices throughout.

There are some dam_n good restaurants, with good food and drinks for low prices. Of course not DIRECTLY on Nana or Patpong.

So eat out in a nice (mostly Thai- frequented) place and hopp on to few drinks at the "usual" places...good and not overly expensive fun.

Most guys are really happy if they end up with a girl who really does her best to please him. Likewise, most girls are happy if guys give them drinks, tips or whatever. For some guys making sure everyone has a good experience matters, other guys won't even let her take a coke from the minibar after they are done :-)

Now watch all the prices go up! It all has to do with local salaries. Now workers will demand more money and he economy will really go to the pits! Articles like this often do more damage than good. JMHO.

I don't see Saudi as being a tourist place except for Muslims and on a recent BBC " Fast Track " programme they said tourist visas were not the easiest things to get presumably meaning for non-Muslims. We're not allowed to visit Mecca.

Seriously, Bangkok is an amazing city. Been visiting regularly or the last 25 years. So many choices! Stay at five star hotels or two star hotels. Eat at some of the finest restaurants in the world or eat street food at a fraction of the price. Easy to find cheaper drinking venues in the tourist areas as well. Pay a premium at the tourist traps. Do a bit of research. The choice is all yours. Everyone who visits has a different experience. Is not a nanny state here. As my mates from the US would say, you need a bit of gumption.

wrong mate go to koh lanta on soi 5 nimman and you will get a beautiful italian meal for less than 100bht, and there pizzas done in there special ovens are very very tasty,there is a lot more to los than bangkok, open your mind,and stop thinking the world ends in the capital
