My christmas' in Aberdeen were always the worst! Thailand is much better!

I was in thailand for chrimbo last year but gotta do the honourable thing and stay in the 'deen this year.

it's yet to snow this winter and up until monday past it was reasonably mild. since then it's been freezing.

Not in the least (at least, not now, having just got off work, had a hamburger for dinner, pouring rain (and hail) all day. Cold, blustery wind, some lightning and thunder, but no snow. Just another wonderful day in the 'stan !)

But for the rest of you louts and lagers, scuts and scousers and of course, the Lovely Ladies, may you all have a very Merry Christmas, a happy and safe Holiday Season, and a wonderful New Year !!

Kristmas in Kandahar !

I know you are all dying to know what Kristmas in Kandahar is (was) like ! Well, to begin with, it was a normal working day for most of us. I knew it was going to be a crappy day though, when I got to the dining facility and saw that all they had available for breakfast was some semi-warm turkey sausages, french toast and some oatmeal.

I didn't think they would actually put on that crappy of a breakfast on Christmas Day.

Things didn't improve much from there. It started raining, a lot of rain (it hasn't stopped as a matter of fact). So cold that we were getting intermitent flurries of hail as well as the wet stuff.

The big brass had to come around for a visit at lunch time. BBQ steaks, baked potatoes and some other crap. I ignored the circus and kept on working. When I saw that the meal line had finally died down, I took a break. The steak, even though it was fresh off the BBQ, was pretty much cold by the time I was able to sit down and eat it. No big deal, as I had to dash back out in the rain to deal with some other matters any ways.

Got off work at 3 pm (first time ever leaving that early !!). There are some events planned for this evening, but apparently they don't even start until around 8 pm. As I have to be up again at 5 am, I think I'll skip it.

And that's about it. I'm thinking it probably wasn't my worst Christmas ever (?), but it certainly has been the dreariest ! Now I can look forward to a good snooze and hoping to have dry boots in the morning !

It's the little pleasures that make life worth living !

Ah it's no biggie. Tomorrow's a brand new day, and one day closer to getting home ! And only another 364 days to go until we can do it again !!
