Popular Post CrisRMenumate
In one sentence he says he bought the car, in another he says it belongs to someone else, which is it? As a politician his ownership of such a car is a matter for public scrutiny, threatening anyone for seeking such scrutiny is just the way these type of feudal thugs believe is their right to behave. As a politician in a transparent environment the fact he is driving someone else's car would also be cause for scrutiny and clear explanation, he should be not seen to do anything untoward, on the contrary our man in pink believes that we the people have no right to question him on anything he does or says because we are all beneath him.. Do the Red Dirts really think this kind of person they elected represents their interests and they are changing the old elitist system of patronage? not a chance...
GeorgeO
DSI director general Tarit Pengdith said investigators will look into Mr Ruangkrai’s allegation against the deputy prime minister. In this case,"look into" means call Dubai. I'm sure an impartial decision will be made 5555555555555555. Surely the DSI should have been the ones to raise the issue in the first place, as opposed to now looking into whether Ruangkrai has defamed the DPM...!! Or could it be that the DSI is already well aware of this and it has already been dealt with. That is, they have a hat full of names and as they pull them out they are then placed into other hats labeled: (i) 'prosecute' and (ii) 'whitewash'....? The DPM's name could have simply been erroneously placed in the 'whitewash' hat...! Edited June 18, 2013 by GeorgeO

bentleyboy
There would be a paper trail if he paid the correct tax. This should be an open and closed issued if he has the paperwork.Yes. But could get tricky if he continues to assert that the cars were only 'left with him'. An interesting weasel move to claim the car is owned by someone else. But according to his statement in the story, he is claiming tax has been paid. So I guess if somehow the tax has not been paid, Chalerm feels he will be off the hook. It is always tricky to try and pin down a snake... :-) "The deputy prime minister said today the Rolls Royce which belongs to his son’s Singaporean business partner was legally imported with tax payment in full to the Customs Department." And to add extra humor, it appears he actually owns two of these cars. One with a license number of 4444 as mentioned in this story, and one with 2222 as shown in the photo below The Pink car is a Bentley Flying Spur, should be gaoled for desecrating such a beauty! Perhaps he bought it from Lady Penelope.

Tatsujin
One thing you can be sure of here in Thailand . . . if someone files a "counter claim", they were guilty of whatever they were accused of in the first place and are simply trying to deflect attention. Mr T did this a LOT . . .
SICHONSTEVE
oooooooooow would be the story of the year if he got done,,,,i would have a heart attack,,, For your sake I hope it isn't true then!!! But on a personal basis I would absolutely love it to be true. What is the 'peasants party' Deputy PM doing riding around in a Rolls Royce by the way?? This is like the late Mother Thereisa or Gandhi owning a lear jet!!! Clearly he is one of the 'normal people' that thinks he is part of the 'jet set'. Halion
All men are equal Khun Chalerm but not so for you, as you are from the dregs of the gene pool and stand alone. It would be a very funny story if not for the fact that you are so arrogant that you do not possess the ability to see how really dumb you appear to all and sundrie. Your are simply a typical buffon and a bully in a Barbie car.

I hope the dog never sees the outside of a jail cell. Thailand is a joke. The question you ask would be normal fare in a country in which the government acts for the benefit of the public. Unfortunately, in Thailand, criminalia is seen as a comeuppance. Thailand is as rotten as a six inch rattan stick in six inches of sea water. Popular Post steveromagnino
will DSI not question how he could afford that on his "normal" salary ? Why do they need to question it? One can guess that running the numbers on the illegal lottery is a handsome money earner. And controlling various illegal activities within western Bangkok, as well as receiving payoffs to protect various friends like the ones who live in Dubai, Cambodia and so on. None of which Chalerm does, of course. Edited June 18, 2013 by steveromagnino

Songhua
will DSI not question how he could afford that on his "normal" salary ?Unfortunately, belg, that would be outside the parameters of the mission at hand, which is appearing more and more to be about collecting the tax and stitching up a few plebs & underlings.Of course, in an ideal world that would be the very next question people would be asking but in LoS one needs to be extremely mindful of who is doing the asking and who is being asked which questions (everybody knows their place on the pyramid). Fry some middlemen, case closed. Edited June 18, 2013 by Songhua

jackspratt
And what if the Singaporean guy sold the Rolls Royce to him for a dollar Wouldn't wash. There are well defined laws for valuing imports, and a transaction such as you suggest would fall outside those laws. Not that Thai Customs has a reputation for actually following their own laws.
