Wondering if there's any Canucks out there on Samui who are having a Canada Day party or a bar that might be hosting one....if not I might know of a British bar or another here in Lamai that would welcome it.......too short notice to arrange some Canadian beer .... must be Canadian whiskey here somewhere.....

Now that you asked a good question I am now wondering if there is a Canuck party in bkk on July first also?

Suggest you open a new topic in the Bangkok forum if you want find out about Canadian party there. (can't recall seeing any info on one yet)

Re Samui forum...didn't know - forgot - there was one. I had friends arriving, wanted to get the question out there before I forgot or got distracted.....will look the other forum now, not used to the site.

I would be, I will be in Bangkok on the 4th of July.

Which means you'll be three days late cheesy.gif

As I recall, in the past the embassy has organized something. Perhaps check their websites or give them a call.

well, I've spent an hour or more looking for the moved post on the Koh Samui/Phangan forum....can't find it? Or am I supposed to start over?? Would have been helpful if you, as the mover of the forum, had linked it.

And re other replies, they were general Canadian expat replies/comments, not about Koh Samui; this is a general forum so far as I can tell. The issue of bloody caesars is a critical matter for Canadians anywhere in Thailand ;-) I'm still trying to come with a Thai-ified recipe for poutine.....

I believe the Canuck Embassy in BKK has one every year that features Canadian suds, caesars made from genuine Clamatto, and even some of the better Canadian wine. If memory serves me well, they even have a little street hockey tournament. I'll try to get some more info, but if they're serving BC salmon and Alberta beef, I don't think I'll be able to resist -- those are some very fine eats.

1. This topic shows quite clearly in the Samui local forum.

2. I also left a link in General when I moved it.

3. You are still posting in it.

I'd say all is well.

Well good news and bad news.... Tesco Chawang has celery!!!! (a rare sight, although Makro sometimes has, .... thumbsup.gif

But the bad news is..... sell by date is June 26 th laugh.png So it might be a little yellow and limp by July 1 st.... pity.... eh! facepalm.gif

Clams can be found at many beaches around Samui, it's a slow and tedious process ... so better get on that now, eh!

Not sure I want drive to Lamai and listen to a bunch of Canucks talking about how the Vancouver Canucks won the Grey Cup, or how the Saskatchewan Rough Riders won the Stanley cup whistling.gifbiggrin.pngwink.png

and definitely not want to go, if no Sleeman's beer, thumbsup.gif .....I sure would not want to get drunk on Labatt's Blue or Molsen Canadian bah.gifeh!

Too bad no tongue in cheek button! eh! tongue.pngbiggrin.png

LOL I See you're a big sports fan. But the Saskatchewan Rough Riders may have a better chance of winning Lord Stanley's Cup than the Toronto Maple Leafs.

I went to the Samui index and couldn't find this, but if this is the same place = I got the impression we should butt out - then ok whatever...

And ya I'm not a hockey fan anyway, and not sure of the theme, though I'd think clam nectar from canned clams would work for the caesars.....

and not like I want to sing O Canada over and over either......just seemed like an occasion for a party.....my buddy in Manila went to Sweden Day, figures he can do better there (but he's a party god, I'm not)......

Has anyone ever SEEN Canadian beer in Thailand? I'd think there might be some in Bangkok or Chiang Mai. To date I have yet to see a restaurant or food stall with tons of flags have a maple leaf flag.....think I saw a Nova Scotia one once, long ago, though.......seen everything else here in the way of flags.....

gonna try and make some green curry or musulman poutine, maybe......Canuck-Thai fusion.......I know how to make Halifax donair sauce, but it's pretty disgusting...

Black Rose bar at the far west end of Maenam beach (past Lomprayah Ferry terminal) ...... always has a Canadian flag flying, amongst others !

No Canadian beer or Clamato juice though~! He can probably do a Bloody Mary! Bring your own clams, as that area of beach does not have clams to dig! wink.png

Hi Skookum

There are a couple of canucks down Lamai way that would be interested in a Canada Day get together. Which bar did you have in mind?
