[Myanmar] Ethnic Refugee Repatriation Likely to Hit Snag on Land Rights: Group

International land rights group Displacement Solutions warns that the repatriation of hundreds of thousands of refugees displaced by ethnic conflict in Burma is likely to hit a snag on disagreements over the ownership of lands that were abandoned by refugees, Democratic Voice of Burma reports. Much of this land was occupied by the military and associated businesses, but during the current peace negotiations the issue of land ownership has not been addressed, the group said. Two land laws that were passed last year failed to clarify this issue and further entrench government powers to claim land, it said.
