Surat Thani at midnight

Featured Replies

I'm coming to Surat by train, will be there at around midnight. What's the usual procedure, stay at a hotel or play an all-night buffet to the mosquitoes at the railway station?

If I want to stay someplace, where would you recommend? I've only been through Surat in the dark and don't know the place at all. I suppose any hotel would be able to help me with bus & ferry ride first thing in the morning.

Thanks in advance :)

Hotel Wang Thai would be best. But no one will arrange a combi tix at midnight from there to the first ferry to Samui at 05:00h, because it's' midnight. You can take a taxi form the hotel to the bus station area and check a bus from there to Don Sak at 03:00h or check at Phun Pin opp. the train station when you arrive.

Much better sleep at the hotel as long as you want and contact the reception there after breakfast for the next available bus/ferry.....

Cool, but where are they? Close to the railway station?

you take a taxi tuk tuk from the railway station to that hotel about, don't know, ~20 minutes, and you will be there. Wang Thai is on the Western outskirts of Surat Thani town

Wang Thai was OK, a bit expensive for my tastes (970 B for the night). I'll be avoiding that midnight train in the future...

You could go at 100 Islands (Roi Koh), opposite Tesco, nice rooms from 600 Baht, nice 'jungle pool', closer than Wang Thai to Punphin train station.

Week end always full, book in advance ;-)

Thanks. I hope I won't need it but I'll keep it in mind :)

No, from Butterworth. Arrives at 11.55 pm. I'll probably fly to Penang in the future, the prices are OK for early bookings - sometimes as little as 3K B for a return trip.

I agree with Anguid............Have used 100 islands many times and there is a bar close by . Would recommend this hotel , as more suitable to farang travellers. Its is right opposite Tesco-Lotus.
