Re-Entry Permit - Bangkok Airport

Featured Replies

Is the Re-Entry permit desk AFTER you pass through Immigration on the way out of the country ?

Is the expiration date on Re-entry permit the date I last arrived in Thailand or the day I left ? I will be getting this on the way out.

After, but ask before you have your passport stamped!!!

The validity of your re-entry permit will be till the day you are currently allowed to stay in the Country. So if you now have a stamp till 1 September, your re-entry permit will be valid till 1 Septemebr and you need to return before 1 Sept. A re-entry permit doesn't add any days.

Don't confuse it with a multiple entry visa.

Hello This is very urgent and I would appreciate it very much if someone could help me with this, I am planing to go Malaysia next Friday and currently I have visa for one year stay in thailand which expires in March of 2014, I forgot to go and notify the 90days stay and this is my first time, now my question is on my way to Malaysia can I get a re entry permit from Don Mueng airport or this 90 day notification be a problem and if so can I pay the fee in airport Itself, pls pls need a reply soon,

I forgot to go and notify the 90days stay...

When were you supposed to do this?

I suggest that you leg it down to your local immigration office tomorrow (Thursday) and attempt to get everything straightened out. You will almost certainly be liable for a fine of up to 5,000 THB (according to the latest notification slip in my passport) for your overdue 90-day report. If you fail to do this, you will only be storing up problems for yourself when you eventually return to Thailand and do your next address report 90 days later (the reporting clock will be reset from the date of your re-entry into Thailand, the re-entry date itself counting as Day 1). Your local immigration office will then almost certainly be able to detect straight away from their computer records that you missed reporting last month.

The potentially good news, however, is that, provided that your visa is multi-entry and you re-enter Thailand by the day before its expiry date at the very latest, you won't need a re-entry permit. Furthermore, recent reports on this forum indicate that the chances are very small of your overdue 90-day report being picked up by Immigration when they stamp you out at Don Mueang. But for the sake of your own peace of mind, I really do advise you earnestly to get this matter sorted sooner rather than later.

Have you seen the edited version of my reply stating that you might not need a re-entry permit after all? Good luck as regards getting the overdue 90-day report sorted out.

Yes, it can be 5,000 but normally the fine is 2,000 Baht for a late address report, and he could also obtain a re-entry permit while at immigration. What makes you think he wouldn't need a re-entry permit?

so that means I can get the re entry at don Mueng without any problem? And when is the desk open becos my flight leaves at 8am

If, as stated in my edited post, his visa is multi-entry and he is planning to return to Thailand the day before its expiry date at the latest, he won't need a re-entry permit, will he? And, to boot, he will be stamped back in for a further year from his re-entry date!

I am personally living testament to this statement being true. I obtained a multi-entry O-A visa from the Royal Thai Embassy in London on 13 Aug 2008 and entered the Kingdom under it on 26 Oct 2008. I subsequently departed the Kingdom on 31 Jul 2009 sans re-entry permit and re-entered the day before the visa's expiry date when I was stamped in for a further year. I did, however, have to obtain a re-entry permit for a further foreign trip I undertook before the additional year stamped in my passport expired and I was then introduced to the joys of annual extensions of stay.

So it's a single-entry one then, in which case you do definitely need a re-entry permit and will presumably only be stamped in until its expiry date upon your return.

I believe that the re-entry permit desks at Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang are open from 6am, but others who are more in the know on this than I am will doubtless confirm (or deny). But, as beechguy has stated, you can, in any event, obtain a re-entry permit at your local immigration office tomorrow should you be visiting them then to sort out your overdue 90-day report.

It appears you have a one year extension of stay (not a visa if received from immigration) so 90 day reporting is required.

The fine for late reporting (more than 7 days) is 2,000 baht if done on your own.

You could also obtain a re-entry permit at the same time you make your report.
