Mae Nam temple mayhem?

Is some kind of 'music'thing going on in the temple in Mae Nam - I use the term 'music' merely to convey a meaning . . .

For the last 5 or 6 nights it's come drifting disturbingly over to me - some kind of drugged and frienzied amplified group of random howlers and shriekers backed by an loud and amplified drum kit which it sound like is being attacked with beach umbrellas wielded by several dozen people at the same time - non-stop for hours on end.

Must be a cultural thing . . .

Well it must be close to the full moon so with any luck, after destroying their hearing and hammering their hands to a pulp on the drums and umbrellas, and shredding their vocal chords and deadening their cortexes they'll all fall upon each in a numb and still-twitching manner and rip each other's throats out with their teeth.

Sounds like they've got to that part now now . . . the guitarist has been playing the same 5 notes over and over again for 40 minutes while the others are whacking the drumkit with the beach brollies . . . gotta be the throat-ripping soon . . .

Yep - I was right.

11.30 pm and all fall down.

Phew. My little cat has been looking for soundproof places for days now.

Me too.

(But there's not enough room in the fridge for both of us . . .)

(Actually - it's still going - I can still faintly hear those five notes over and over - but the abbot must have hit the 11.30 shhhh switch, bless his saffron socks.)

They are coming to take you away ha ha he he hoo ho ha ha. or is that me. now i am confussed. the funny thing i can hear the computer talking to me as if i am not reading but the coputert is telling me things like i must learn to spell or my brain shall explode

incase u r wondering the music has been driving me crazy also as my post reflects

I have just moved, so out of ear shot of the Maenam Temple now, but I am closer to Napalan (guess I will need to learn how to spell that!! .... Lomprayah Ferry Temple)

No doubt soon they will have a week long party there soon, too ...

The Maenam Mayhem finishes tonight...

Well this new place of mine is pretty quiet.... no yapping dogs day and night .... which was one of the reasons for moving... only seen two dogs here, but not heard any barking yet! ....

But this morning, I was surprised to hear the Monks at Napalan Temple, chanting at 5.30 am .... I am not that close, so I was surprised to hear, ... but if only on Sundays, I can probably deal with that~! Better than Hau Thanon where the mosque would go with their prayers every morning...

Nah not going to bother doing that, just relying on what I was told, ..... that it is done for the year !
