OldChinaHam Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 I happened to be talking to one yesterday, and she mentioned that she was getting a bit bored with Thailand, and she thought there might not be enough excitement for her around here. She was not feeling exactly blue, but she also did not have much sparkle left to her, after about a year. I had not thought about it much how different might be the Thailand experience for my female Farang friends. I am way past the days when I believed womanizing, boozing and carousing was more fun than it turned out to be. I have always enjoyed diverse interests and my main focus in life these days is certainly not bar crawling or mating. So I would have thought that this Farang girl, who is in her late twenties early thirties, ought to be at least as happy and satisfied with Thailand as I. Maybe, though, this is not the case as I find most times I try to chat with her. I know she is straight, so she has said. But can't you be happy without a love interest? I have never been envious of love because I always keep my most disastrous hookups foremost in my mind. Sometimes I shudder if I feel attracted to women I know I better not touch. Of course I do not know what it is like to be a foreign woman, of any race, living without permanent roots in Thailand. For Farang men, though, it seems fine, otherwise so many of them probably would not keep coming. Also, how can we men help these Farang women better appreciate the finer things in life in Thailand, to keep them distracted from their "boredoms"? Ennui is not for everybody, Not even for Farang Females.
David48 Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 OCH ... welcome back ... What were you up to these past weeks? Entertaining the local ladies ... I am impressed. Either way ... you were missed ... I'm sure someone missed you ... .

MacChine Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 ^ Can we analyze the mommy rooted misogyny angle here since it's posted? to OP; Your subject is probably a little weary of being fourth tiered and would welcome her old western role as being merely second.

Maybe we should go a bit more sparingly with the psychobabble here, since this is not really what this topic is about. In fact I was just straight reporting what I had witnessed among foreign female friends that led me to speculate whether or not women experience Thailand in ways not so entertainingly as we. We all become bored occasionally, but do some groups of us, the fairer sex, become bored far more often when in Thailand?
Sheryl Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 Obviously it depends entirely on the woman, her reasons for being here, and what she is looking for in life. Personally lived here >20 years and not in the least bored.

Suspect MacChine's mommy misogyny comment is directed at the post I just removed. Inflammatory and insulting posts really are unnecessary.
MacChine Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 Um, there was a post I guess since removed, by a Grego.. something or another that begged analysis, about not wanting anyhting to do with " farang women, bad to him in his childhood..." ..anyway sorry, carry on . ^ Can we analyze the mommy rooted misogyny angle here since it's posted? to OP; Your subject is probably a little weary of being fourth tiered and would welcome her old western role as being merely second.
