chrisinth
I think the whole world is very lucky that you don't have the qualifications to be in charge! Why does it matter what someone LOOKS like people are still people and deserve respect from others!! Nah......someone who dresses and looks like a terrorist deserves suspicion before respect. Terrorists don't consider you to be a person, so why would you say people are still people? Suspicion before respect. "Nah......someone who dresses and looks like a terrorist deserves suspicion before respect" What does a terrorist look like? I have a good guess what they look like inside your mind...................

Why does it matter what someone LOOKS like people are still people and deserve respect from others!! Not sure what isolated part of the modern world you dwell in, however, in these highly troubled times "profiling" is a commonsecurity technique utilized in order to improve aircraft flight safety. Appearance is only one of the paramaters however, it would not be enough on its own to warrant a 'no fly restriction'. If we were to apply a total libertarian approach then planes would be falling out the sky on a daily basis. Perhaps you may wish to reflect on the possibility that the world may be the way it is owing to an excess of people with your qualifications.

Bet the tune here would be totally different. Its all fun and games when the rights of others are infringed upon but once you are the one all hell breaks loose. allan michaud
Why would he not answer questions without a lawyer present. Again, there is no legal process as you reference. A foreigner in transit has none of the legal rights you refer to. The country to which the oreigner transits has no obligation to grant the rights that you assume exist. The country can legally search and seize property without a search warrant. A country can also detain passengers in transit.

Its because of the ignorance of western PC pollies and public servants that our countries are filling up with all these Islamic creeps. Appearances tell you so much about people including farangs. If you dress like a bum you probably are one. See above caption. IMHO BrianCR is exactly right with his comments. This guy is being judged by appearance and religion alone. Sure, he may have travelled to a couple of countries and attended religious meetings, but what else has he done? Bear this in mind, if he was guilty of something, and was clean shaven and dressed in a suit, would that then make him not guilty? Whatever reason he was on the 'secret no-fly list', we are not privy to that information to judge him. Just hope that for whatever reason my name doesn't appear on one.................. But among us, we've got some terrorists. If you're talking about profiling, that's a more delicate question. My view is some level of profiling is just common sense but that it has be watched carefully or it can easily become a policy of institutionalized discrimination. You learn to get to the airport early because there will be additional screening and questions. The security guys and gals have a job to do, And i support them. I let them ask their questions and be satisfied that i'm not the particular person on the "no fly list". At the end , they usually thank me for my patience, and i thank them for their vigilance and hard work. The entire "ordeal" can last 5extra minutes on a good day, 15 on a bad day. No problem. Yes you do have the right to not answer any questions. And they have the right not to let you board while they check out if you re the particular person on the list. With your help, 5 to 15 minutes (my experience) With your silence 5 to 15 days (his experience) The choice is yours. The US government is under no legal or moral obligation to allow the foreigners entry into the USA. In respect to the 500 or so US nationals on the no fly list, they can seek to be removed from the no fly list by appealing to the TSA and addressing the issues that put them on the list. nachiket
. kcal9.com I wonder why he has the potential for the no-fly list? Got me stumped ... . First, I considered his name sounds like an Indian or Pakistani. But, after I watched his picture, I am pretty sure (Not 100%), he belongs to one those two country and looks fundamentalist. Maybe his past visited country, or any activity, his look, or such thing which make both Thai and US officials doubtful and put him on no-fly list and thus detained him... I suppose. theajarn
Can anyone enlighten me as to why you would wonder the airport terminal for four days waiting to be questioned, why did he not stay in a hotel ?To gain sympathy and cause an international incident. If he is a U.S citizen why didn't he just go to the U.S embassy to find out what was going on? Maybe that would have been to low key and no publicity And why not if you get held because you look different ? Just put him on a public no fly list at least then you know before you fly and you can try to get off it. Land of the free *LOL* Secret this secret that. Sure terrorist don't play nice but to become the thing you hate most to counter them.. they won.If somebody is "bad" enough to be put on a no fly list, surely he should be procecuted. If people get put on a no fly list just because of suspicions, not proof, it could be you and me next!Upsetting innocent people may promote terrorism. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app I bet, and then when something does blow up and it's found that the person responsible was on a no-fly list, people will still be bitching about it. It's been said -- if he cooperated, then it might not have been ugly. If police come and question me, I'd be happy to answer -- maybe that's because I've got nothing to hide?

jvs
The big question in my mind is when he was placed on this list, there is no mentioning he had trouble leaving his country. Maybe the light came on when they found out what he was doing while being outside the US. If he was already a person of interest ,shame on the Us government for letting him fly and let the passengers find out if he was ok or not. I remember having a passenger once and after he got out i was asked by someone undercover if he had created any problems for me. This article leaves more questions for me. The fact remains he is an American citizen but he did not really help himself. Being let on airplanes going somewhere else ok but on the last leg of the trip being stopped? More to this story for sure.

Lastly the dude appears to be a traditional Muslim traveling back from Pakistan (haven't verified yet) and acting uncooperatively What did he expect? or was he just trying to make some news? I think we got a brilliant solution to the "riddle" here. I have friends and people I know who run into problems with officials on a frequent basis due to being incooperative. One example would be a friend having the German Embassy denying his (Thai) girlfriend the visa because he and his girlfriend did not want to answer the ambassador's staff a question about how and where they met. If you act suspicious, you will be treated accordingly - as simple is that. However - I would like to thank the US of A (and what the A stands for smells bad) for making our world of today oh, so safe by first creating terrorist cells to later save us from them: http://axisoflogic.com/artman/publish/Article_64528.shtml Wake up people! 99% of the muslim people also don't want anything more than just live a decent life and raise their kids in a peaceful environment. Do you really think they love to live in half destroyed and bombed cities just for fun? Why is it that poppy crops are now back to 90% in Afghanistan with heroin factories standing now out in the open secured by US soldiers, after our saviours, the US of A world police moved in after the Taliban has brought the drug production down to a mere 10%? Who is bombing the shit out of countries killing millions of innocent men, women and children just because someone is making up a story about some undefined weapons of mass destruction? Who is spying on the whole world and is still walking away in a white shirt while that country (US of A) would declare the internet spying on their own nation a terrorist act if it would be done vice versa? Give me a break! The real terrorists are not a few bearded guys sitting in some caves in Pakistan - the ultimate enemy to all of us, to our freedom of choice and speech, to our religious freedom, and to our freedom to choose world peace, is your own US government and the big corporations behind who make billions every day by tossing oil in the fire !!!! Finally let me quote this as food for thought: "If my sons did not want wars, there would be none."
