Could anybody advise if they know of a dentist skilled in dental implants in the region.

These are extremely expensive in the UK and Australia, so was hoping I could find this skill locally.

Ant info would be appreciated .

I assume the OP was asking for dentists in the Chiang Rai area.

We have a couple of dental topics running here but I can’t recall if they include references to implants or not.

If you are looking for something which requires advanced education and a high degree of skill, you will usually find it necessary to look in larger more populated urban centers, like Bangkok or perhaps Chiang Mai.

My guess is for this the main thing missing here would be skill in english for which you pay a high price in Bangkok.

The Chiang Rai Government Hospital has a dental clinic. Which, does implants.

There are also the private clinics. One, I know of, is across the street from the Ban Du market. Slightly north of the 7-11 shop there. Very nice lady dentist. Young and very qualified.

And, just for information, westerners sometimes assume that private clinics are the best. While, in fact, these private dentists also may work in the government hospital. And, then offer afternoon/evening hours at their own clinics. This is true for the lady above.

You can consider that the costs at the Government Hospital will be lower. But, appointment times to physically get the implant can be a month or longer.

And also, some westerners are put off by the queue. But, I personally have not experienced any long waits.

The Government Hospital is alongside Sanambin Road, about a kilometer north of the old airport.

Cheers

Years ago before I moved to CR I was a visitor and got a really bad eye infection.....I had no idea where to go and ended up in the public hospital. There was a queue of about 50 or more locals and I was the only farang in sight. But in true CR style the locals, over all of my protests, absolutely insisted I go to the front of the line. Maybe they were terrified that they would catch the horrible looking infection but much more likely they were just being nice to a farang that had somehow landed in their midst and obviously needed help.

I asked Dr Wanpaya of the Ban Du clinic yesterday re implants in CR.

Her response was that a Dentist with the appropriate experience for this

procedure would more likely be found in Chiang Mai.
