using iPhone in Thailand

Featured Replies

My daughter from the USA will be visiting Thailand for a couple weeks. I am wondering if she will be able to use her i-Phone in Thailand without going on roaming with her American telephone package. I think the answer is no, she won't be able to. I do not think the phone should be unlocked because that would ruin the guarantee?

Usually one can come to thailand and just get a sim card, but the USA phone companies make this difficult.

Maybe I'll just by her a cheap 300 baht basic cell phone to use while she is here...

WIll she be able to use her phone whilst she's in Thailand? - well technically, yes she will be able to use it.

Turning it on and switching to flight mode and enabling wifi will enable her to use most of the iPhone functionality: facegram, instabook, whatsapp and viber etc...

US bought iPhone's are still locked in this day and age? Excuse me whilst I go and have a Keanu Reaves moment!

Go to you local carrier office and ask them to unlock your phone so you can travel abroad - they have differing rule but will unlock the phone and it will NOT void the warranty... Ex: AT&T... http://www.att.com/esupport/article.jsp?sid=KB414532&cv=820#fbid=ndEZ3lbKVzp

Be warned that if the US sim is in the phone and it starts to roam while in Thailand you could be in for a hellish bill when you return...

If ya take out us SIM card and use thai sim,ai don't see A problem.If ya are on the CDMA network ,Verizon then I haven't A clue.
