good lawyer advice

Featured Replies

anyone has any advice on a good lawyer who could advice on setting up a business and visa issues.

Ask your Embassy - they have a list of (real ?) Lawyers

Embassies have lists, but do not make recommendations about a lawyer on their list. it is more an indication that that lawyer at least speaks some English.

I use Tony Justice who deals with the farang clients at the Magna Carta law office on South Pattaya Road by Soi Rungland. Of course, they have Thai lawyers and accountants who do the actual legal and financial work as needed, but it really helps to deal with an English-speaker who knows a lot about Thai law. Sometimes you want to clarify quite subtle and fine points which can be very difficult to explain to a Thai, but which it is easy to get across to a native English speaker. Google them to find their contact details.

I use Chollada who has an office about halfway down soi 6 on the left-hand side on the way to the beach.

She was there before the bars started coming so is proper old school, a genuine lady & seems to know all the right people.

She is more of a facilitator than a lawyer but her office deals with business contracts, visa issues, property etc.

When I had need of proper legal representation in court she arranged for a Thai barrister. I wouldn't have know where to start.

This was in a civil case so can't speak for any criminal needs that you may have.

I seen her office deal with all manner of Europeans including Russians.

As an edit to this, sometimes in life it really is a case of who you know rather than what you know.

I tried to use them once for some specialised service that they advertise on banners on this board.

I wouldn't send an enemy their way now . Fancy banners & advertising do not necessarily make a honest front facing law firm as I found out to my cost.

If I treated them or anyone in the manner that I was treated then I would expect to be brought up on a charge.

Not anything criminal

More like you mentioned here as an advise on where to go what to need and how to proceed when starting up a business and visas needed.

Might give her a shot

what about pricing is she within reason or .....?

I found her very resonable & results have been great so far.

As with legals it can be a case of how long the piece of string is but ask for a price.

I had a bad experience with her, she told me that I could borrow app 50% of the purchase price of my house in a bank.

No money from any of the banks she tried and she is not a real lawyer. Will never use her again.

I once used Kumnoung on Thepprasit road and he seemed ok then, since I read about a doggy car deal where he was involved.

Then there is a US guy on also Thepprasit road, hmm no.

It seems like they are not easy to find here.

Magna carta if you do not want any hassle.

Tony is English and Pico is the chairman of the Thai Lawyers Association

I used Chollada for years, very well connected and very reasonable prices.

I think lawyers are hit and miss here in Pattaya. Someone might have a nightmare with one yet another might speak highly of that same lawyer.

Maybe just call some of the recommendation given here and see what your feeling are. Hit and miss mate.
