george
Songkran revellers warned regarding insurance policy expirations BANGKOK: -- As the Thai kingdom's annual Songkran festival, the traditional Thai New Year, 'arrives' next week and many Thais are either planning trips abroad or planning to visit relatives upcountry, the Insurance Department has advised motorists and revellers to see that their insurance policies offer adequate coverage for accidents and are up to date. Many people died or were injured as a result of road accidents during the Songkran festival in past years, according to Potjanee Thanavaranit, Director General of the Insurance Department. Drivers during the festival should also refrain from drinking alcohol and drive carefully. Motorists and revellers who have accidents could claim compensations if their policies are not expired, she said. --TNA 2006-04-
