Cash secured for 22-million-baht permanent Patong Hill road fix
Phuket Gazette

PHUKET: -- The Phuket Highways Office (PHO) secured 22 million baht to permanently fix a large, notoriously derelict section of Patong Hill road, PHO Director Samak Luedwonghad announced yesterday.

“Patong Hill road in undergoing permanent restoration [story here]. A contract was signed on May 15, and the repairs are expected to be completed by October 12,” Mr Samak told the Phuket Gazette.

The section of road, just west of the Chinese shrine at the top of the hill, was first washed away by heavy rains in 2011 and then again in September 2102 (story here).

Several million baht was previously used to temporarily shore up the section of road until the budget for permanent solution was approved, Mr Samak said (story here).

“Once it is completed, it will last at least 20 years,” he added.

Mr Samak advised motorist to seek alternative routes to ease traffic congestion during construction.

Maybe possible if all the 22 mil was spent on it, but that will not happen, so ,any talk of time of longevity is a wild guess at best..

it made me laugh too

...and staying with that logic at least Suwichag's office would last 40 years!

In addition, the Democrat said he wanted to scrap the Bt40-million plan to renovate Suwichag's office as it was unnecessary.

I remember reading a survey on how much of a budget is actually spend on the project. As high as 50% spent and as low as 30% spend on the actual project. The rest just vanishes into a black hole (some ones pocket).

Never mind sending the DSI to Phuket. A team of auditors to examine certain peoples bank accounts would do more to clean up the stink on Phuket.

at least 20ys, wow thats good !

This is approximately the fifth "permanent fix." :) :)

Usually, the only thing that gets "fixed" are certain "influential people's" bank accounts. :)

I drove by that section on my way to work everyday for a year always wondering if the section would ever get repaired properly. I'm still not confident it will get fixed correctly this time.

i turn on my TV every day watch the news, the world is full of divisive, corrupt, lying, horrible governments, which in turn are run by self opinionated people, to read what has been said by PHO official and everything related to Phuket and Thailand is really absolute <deleted>, make government departments accountable, but again once greed, corruption, self preservation is in the mix, common sense is out the window,
