July 28, 201312 yr Im booked in for a 3 day stay to get my clavicle, that I broke 4 months ago, joined up with a plate. The hospital (one of Pattaya's private) have been treating me for this they want $120 000 they wanted me to check in the same day as my 4month x ray - that was fri - but I deffered them till tue. I've got no idea if that a fair price or not. Any advice? I've had no problems with them thus far and they have been doing regular x rays and doctors reports for income insurance claim so surgery was always disscussed as potentially required if the bone doesn't re-join...but once surgery was agreed on it seemed they just couldn't wait to get me in, and that always makes me wonder. I was thinking to get second opinion/quote but dont know how this would be seen by the doctor/hospital. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app
July 28, 201312 yr "... for this they want $120 000..." 120,000 dollars? 3.6 million baht? I hope that's just you not knowing how to type a ฿ sign. "I was thinking to get second opinion/quote but dont know how this would be seen by the doctor/hospital." I would be concerned if they weren't on board with a second opinion.
July 28, 201312 yr Unless there are complications, or it isn't lined up. Most places put your arm in a sling and let it heal on it's own. I would guess at 10,000-20,000 bht for a plate. Prices vary tremendously for most hospital procedures, often by a factor of 15x.

July 28, 201312 yr Just about anyplace, including the top end private hospitals in Bangkok, cost less than the large private hospitals in Pattaya. Less expensive options near Pattaya are: 1. Queen Sirikit Naval Hospital in Sattahip - the least expensive but being government, red tape and long waits are usual. It is a military hospital and good quality ortho. 2. Phyathai Srti Racha Hospital - a mid-range private hospital in Sri Racha, has a very helpful international department, email [email protected] and you may be able to get a price quote by email. Be specific as to the procedure in question. Samitivej Sri Racha would be another option.
