'Father of tourism' slams Phuket greed

THe most successful families, of which there are onyl a few here in Phuket, no doubt were gifted lands & or given privelidges long ago. So we now get to the generations that believe wholeheartedly thats its their RIGHT to do as they please! So far no one has said or done anything to lead them to believe otherwise.......

It's a pretty simple formula really.

Stack the local politicians in your favour, stack the local police with "yes men" to you, control the crime through threats and protection money (mafia) and these families have got more and more wealthy and more and more powerful, over the last 30 years, to the point where we have the Phuket underworld controlling the whole island.

From there, human nature kicks in that there can never be enough money and there is no justice and any sense of ethics and morality, at all.

Watch the money grab get worse, as the easy money actually starts to dry up, due to the current target demographic of tourists not being big spenders.
