Linseed oil

Featured Replies

I'm looking for linseed oil in 1 litre size. I have found it in art stores but only in a small size. Anyone seen it? Please not just a 'try here' answer, already been many places looking.

Rimping sells small bottles of flax seed oil. Haven't seen it in any large bottles. Have you checked the health food stores and pharmacies?

I too have looked for linseed oil but the boiled stuff. Its great for use on unsealed dressed timber....ie wooden furniture that doesnt have varnish or other coatings. Very hard to find. Ive looked in all the 'normal' places but unsuccessful. What is your end use for the linseed oil?

I'm using it to make a cementing/grouting mix for my stained glass work. I have seen a 500ml size of purified type for oil painting at the art supply shop inside the moat, north side. Expensive at 500B and raw or boiled is what I'm searching for. There's a shop in Ban Tawai that sells supplies for the furniture makers, that will be my next place to look.

I too have tried to find BLO here in Chiang Mai, but have been unsuccessful. They do sell it at the True Value hardware stores in Bangkok an Pattiya, but there are none here that I know of.

This Google map link shows the Vision Center, am I missing something or not looking at the right thing?

The art supply store is next door.

I found linseed oil at a guitar store on Sriphum Rd., just past the Chang Puek gate heading east on Sriphum Rd. The guitar store was on the south side of the road. It's been over a year since I was in that store, so I can't recall it's name. You'll know the store when you see it as the front window was chock full of acoustic guitars. Linseed oil does wonders for the wood of acoustic guitars.

Hope this helps.

There are a few brands of Linseed oil such as; Horse brand, Kenton, Winsor&Newton, Martex,...

Have you been at Udomphol on Ratvitee road on 2nd or 3rd floor? Horse brand have only 2 oz. or 12 oz. https://maps.google.co.th/maps?q=Udomphol++Chiang+Mai&hl=th&ie=UTF8&ll=18.79047,98.992277&spn=0.001318,0.002291&sll=18.793055,98.990142&sspn=0.010462,0.018325&gl=th&hq=Udomphol&hnear=%E0%B8%88%E0%B8%B1%E0%B8%87%E0%B8%AB%E0%B8%A7%E0%B8%B1%E0%B8%94+%E0%B9%80%E0%B8%8A%E0%B8%B5%E0%B8%A2%E0%B8%87%E0%B9%83%E0%B8%AB%E0%B8%A1%E0%B9%88&t=m&z=19&layer=c&cbll=18.790485,98.991976&panoid=28p8F5Ugi0Lv_qTY34RaXw&cbp=12,306.39,,0,0

You can order from Bangkok for 1 lite size. http://www.kentonintertrade.com/th_น้ำมันลินสีด,38.html

The types you are referring to are formulated for use with oil painting. Expensive for my use.

I know that you don't want a "try here" reply, however it wouldn't surprise me if a guitar store in Kad Suan Kaew and/or Robinsons carries linseed oil. Linseed oil goes hand in hand with wooden acoustic guitars.

I'm 95% sure B2S in Central Airport Plaza has it in the art supplies section, near the paints. I saw it there a few months ago.

  • 7 months later...

I found the plain Linseed oil in B2S as stated above, but I still haven't found a local source for Boiled Linseed Oil yet. Has anyone else?
